The conference increased by 95 points to add to the 246 from the previous year, and the gap from the top team to the bottom went from 193 points to 149 points.

7 of the 12 teams increased and 5 decreased. Delaware State grew by 80 to leap into first place and starts the season ranked #7. North Carolina A&T also showed tremendous growth (+75). Morgan State, which won the West last year also improved +41. Hampton was the biggest loser at -80. mostly due to graduations.

Delaware State and Bethune Cookman look like the two teams that will battle in the East, and Florida A&M and Morgan State look like they have clear separation in the west. Six other teams look bunched slightly below those four, and South Carolina State -67 and Coppin State look like the ones needing the most improvement.

Remember: The rankings is that they do not take into account potential/improvement of younger players, but there is no real way to measure that before the season.
