Jeff usually starts this off so people can post thoughts and strategies about their teams. We can still use this thread for that - I just wanted to start out this thread with two items:

First off: I want to thank Jeff (SCHWARZE) for all of his help and work in getting us to this point in the tournament. I couldn't have done it without him because I've really been slowing down here lately in all facets of life - including WIS. Not only for his help but offering up a spare team or two here and there to myself (and others) to keep us involved in the tournament. Once again, a big thanks!

Second off: I was just thinking of a kink I could have thrown in this round that would have made it a LOT more interesting: There's five teams in each division - if I would have thought about it sooner, I believe I would have added the requirement that you must have five players from each of your five divisional franchises on your roster. That really would have made things a bit sticky...

Anyway, congratulations to everyone who's made it this far and know that every one in here will - at a minimum - receive $15 in credits (for each team) once the league/tournament is through. Your participation in my tournaments over the years has been nothing short of amazing - and I thank each and every one of you.

Hard to believe this whole thing started back in October 2022. Man, time flies...

Sure does. I remember setting up my folder "Juice Tournament 2022-2024" thinking 2024 is a long way away. Can't believe it's here.

Pat - thanks again for all the work you put in for our entertainment. I always look forward to your tournaments.

Your "kink" sure would have made this a lot more challenging (and a lot more prep).

I've participated in all of them since I got on this site, and I've so greatly enjoyed the challenge and the competition. I hope someone finds a way to carry on the tradition somehow!

Juice, thanks for the thousands of hours of fun I've had participating in your tournaments over the years. From drafting/building teams to playing through the seasons and hoping to advance to the next round of each tourney, I've really enjoyed every single one of them. I can't begin to imagine how many thousands of hours of work you had to put in to run your entire catalogue of tournaments. But, I truly appreciate those many hours of work you performed!

My overall record shows that I am just a middle-of-the-road WIS participant. So, actually managing to win 2 of your tournaments is clearly the highlight of my years on WIS. I was fortunate to win a 3 round tournament titled "The Good-The Bad-The Ugly 8 or 10 years ago. My final round winning team (The Ugly) consisted of members of the 1963-72 Washington Senators/Texas Rangers. I also somehow managed to win your colossal COVID Tournament in 2020-2021.

So, thanks again for everything you've done running your tournaments over the past decade-plus and may you live long and prosper!

Thank you gentlemen!

Thanks juice. The one thing I regret is not playing in your tournaments sooner. I remember seeing the tournament ad, seeing all the signups happening very quickly, watching people taking multiple teams. I always missed the initial classifieds posts, and thought that surely, all the good teams have been taken. I had no idea that you could find some some great teams later in the signup process. barracuda3 proved that in round 1 in this Final Tournament.

I ended up playing in my first "Juice" tournament during COVID. Like everybody else, I was working from home and looking for something to fill the time. I happened to see the ad pretty early so I figured why not. Best decision I ever made.

As somebody who also likes to create unique and fun theme leagues, I appreciate your creativity in developing theme league/tournament ideas. I am retiring at the end of this month and would love to keep your tournament concept going. Not sure I can come up with as many great theme league ideas as you do though. I may have to pick your brain.

Although you are "slowing down", I hope I still see you entering leagues from time to time. Thanks for all you've done.

Agree with everyone here. Thanks for doing these and my only
regret is that this is my first one!
1/8/2024 11:24 AM
juice, say it ain't so! I've participated in all of your tournaments since early on. I've enjoyed every one of them and somehow each one had a unique feel to it. I really have no idea how you were able to come up with great themes and keep everything straight. schwarze was a big help with this in the last few tournaments and between the two of you there is no-one out there who can deliver anything close. I hope between the two of you, you find some way of continuing on. If you don't, I have no idea what I will do with all that free time. As darth said, thank you for the thousands of hours of great entertainment.

Just to vent, here are a couple tables that show how disappointing my Arrietas team not making the playoffs was. They went a league-worst 16-26 in 1-run games.

Seven of the top 8 teams in Exp% made the playoffs. The lone exception, of course, was my Arrietas team. They were 46 points higher than any other team that missed the playoffs and 57 points higher than the 8th team that got in.

This one is a bit closer, but still 6 of the top 7 make it, with Arrietas again the team left out. Schwarze's Kluber team and toysboys Heartland Hopefuls were both close behind as well.

I was 0-3 on playoff teams. Good luck to those in the playoffs.

Congrats emanes10 on winning the Juice Tournament!

Congrats emanes10!

In classic, tragic playoff fashion, I had you down 2-0 in Rnd 1 of the playoffs but you took the next 3 and rode that momentum all the way. Game 4 of our series was a most painful 1-0 loss for me.

Congrats and hope to see you down the road.
3/15/2024 3:21 PM
Congrats emanes10. An incredible feat considering that he only had (checking notes) 4 entries in the initial round of the tournament! This is out of 528 entries in the first round.
