Here's a question, and not sure if anyone knows, but can you negotiate with offering a lower than asked signing bonus to your draft picks? Or are you shot down automatically? Will their price lower as the season drags on? I've always just offered their ask or passed on signing them all together.

You can shave a few percent off their requests; it's variable how much and offering a spring training invite helps. But it's not very much of a discount. I think I've seen them sign for as little as 92% of asking price but not less.

If they will accept slot, I will offer 90%. Maybe half will accept. Then I’ll offer 95%, maybe 1/3 or 1/4 will accept. I’ll then offer full slot. It might save me close to $500K which could be used on a modest IFA. My recent Albernaz and Cota signings as an example.

I'm actually offering lower than 90%, one looks like they won't bite, but my 2nd rounder is looking like I might have a chance.
