Four of these openings are great opportunities for rebuilds and one has been a title contender the last six seasons.

AL East
Former Washington (56-106)
They were starting the process of rebuilding, so it's up to the new owner to finish that rebuild. They have the #2 pick in the draft this year, and have some recent prospects to build upon such as Ronnie McClain, Alex Keys, Harry Osuna, last year's #13 pick Will Vick, and last year's #38 pick Todd Thomas. They still need some additional prospects, but with a high pick this year and some ML talent to trade, they can be a fun rebuild job for the next owner!

Former Toledo (99-63)
Toledo has made it to the ALCS 5 of the last 6 seasons and has a title to show for it. They're a team built to win now, but they probably need to reload a little bit. However, they already have a good base of talent to start from, so the next owner will just need to sign the right players to get them back to the World Series. Their minors are admittedly a little bit bare, but they do have a few prospects in the minors such as Roland Unknown and Manny Bristow.

AL South
Former Mexico City (61-101)
Mexico City is another rebuild, but they already have some good pieces in place. They drafted stud SP Shea Raines at #5 this past season and another potentially solid pitcher Marshall Coleman at #5 two seasons ago. They also added Javier Gomez with pick #17 three seasons ago who looks pretty good, so they have already started the process of getting their rotation ready for the future. Additionally, they signed IFA Yovani Izturis last season to be their SS of the future. With these prospects and the #4 pick in the draft this season, the next owner has a lot of talent to work with.

AL West
Former Fresno (73-89)
They are another rebuild with some promising prospects in their minor league system. In season 18, they drafted Kris Power #7 overall and Claudio Sellers at #11. Sellers may need a little more time, but Power looks like he should be ready for the majors soon. They also added Robb Durham who can DH or play C and potentially solid reliever Chaz Hubbard in the same draft, so it was a very productive draft for them. This past season they picked a little bit later but still were able to add some potentially good prospects including reliever Tike Kirk, SP Stu Johnson, and IF prospect Kurt Waters.

They also have prospects who should be in the majors this season including SS Bruce Coleridge, SP Pedro Bonilla, and 2B Cristobal Pulido who all could have played in the majors last season. That plus the #10 pick in this draft make this an appealing team for someone who can keep rebuilding or start adding Type A free agents to their roster while still protecting their #10 pick.

NL West
Former San Diego (61-101)….TAKEN
San Diego is another team that has been rebuilding but amassing prospects in their farm system. They have 2B Odalis Rios and SP Kevin Buschmann who are ready for callups to the majors, COF Lefty Ashby and 2B Terrence Bryne who are probably a season or two away, and more recent draft picks such as 2B Jordan Durham and P Joel Hall who can help the big club in a few years. They also have the #5 pick in the draft this season which can help continue the rebuild while waiting for these players to become ML ready. It's a great job to start now and make your mark on the team's future success.

Private World Rules:
1) A Minimum Win Requirement of 50 per season and three season total of 180 has been adopted. Failure to meet this requirement will result in the following:

First offense of 50 wins per season rule = $10M maximum limit in Prospect Budget, Second offense = automatic removal Violation of the 180-for-3 rule will result in automatic removal

2) All Minors Must Be Properly Maintained according the Fair Play Guidelines. If an owner is found to be in flagrant violation of the spirit of the rules, a warning is given with a time frame to correct (either 48 or 72 hours, pending world approval). At the end of this time period, if the Veteran’s Committee does not feel the proper effort was made then a Vet Committee Expulsion Vote occurs. This format will also apply to ML pitching staffs.

3) Communications in World Chat must remain civil. The Vet Committee has the right to impose MWR sanctions on the violating owner. Once the Committee has reached consensus on the appropriate sanction, the violating owner has the choice to accept the sanctions and remain or depart at the end of the season.

4) An Owner’s Hall of Fame will be established and made public via the League Blog. The induction criteria are as follows: 15+ seasons in ATH, an ATH winning percentage of .530 or better, 6+ division titles and 2+ World Series Rings. Once an owner is inducted, they cannot be “uninducted” even if their lifetime winning percentage falls below the threshold.

Only one owner per season may be inducted. If multiple owners qualify in the same season, then the owner with the better winning percentage in ATH goes in first. Should more than two qualify in the same season, the order will be determined by winning percentage in order from highest to lowest. To add a new world rule and/or change an existing world rule, the proposal must be submitted to the commissioner with a minimum of three co-sponsors (ie the owner who generates the idea plus two more.) In order for a proposal to be adopted, 17 current owners must vote in favor within 7 days of the called vote.
