Questions for Progressive League Commissioners Topic

Like many of you, I greatly enjoy progressive leagues and have played in them for years. I have played in at least a dozen different leagues (probably more) and started three. I am currently in three progressives, including one in which I serve as commissioner. Although many progressives are similar, I find that each league handles certain things differently. I am looking to collect some data on how different leagues handle different scenarios. Below are ten questions. If you're willing to take a few minutes, I would love to get answers, especially from commissioners of leagues. If you are commissioner of multiple leagues, with different rules and therefore with potentially different answers to the below, then please answer from the perspective of what you think the "best" answer is to each question.

Most of the questions include "other" as a possible response. If you select "other" please consider elaborating with a separate post below.

3. Please only answer this question if your answer to Question 2 was (a). Boston has 23 keepers and has been allocated a 1st and 2nd round pick. Chicago has 17 keepers and has been allocated 8 draft picks. Early in the draft, Boston makes a trade in which they send 2 players to Chicago in exchange for 1 player. No draft picks were included in the trade. Boston now needs 1 more draft pick, and Chicago needs 1 fewer. How do you handle this?

4. During the season, Boston trades their next season’s 3rd round draft pick to Chicago. When it’s time to post keepers for next season, Boston lists 23 keepers, thus necessitating 2 draft picks. How do you handle this?

5. Boston’s previous owner leaves the league. The roster is in shambles and any reasonable person would agree that the team won’t be competitive for some time. What, if any, concessions are made for the new Boston owner?

8. Similar scenario to Question 7. But in this case, Boston did list the player as a keeper. The commissioner inadvertently lists the player as available. That player is drafted by Chicago. How do you handle this?

9. During the season, Boston trades their next season’s 3rd round pick twice, to two different teams, in separate trades. The first trade was with Chicago. The second trade was with New York. The duplicate trade is not noticed until after the season concludes. Now it’s time for the draft. How do you handle the duplicate pick?

Q9 (other) - I have had this happen more than once. In each case I've first asked the 2 teams involved in trade #2 if they can work something else out. Every one of the cases have been worked out this way. I've had them bump it to a 2nd round pick and also 3rd round of next season.

Really appreciate those of you who have responded this far. Would love to get a couple dozen more responses.

Also, would love it if more owners who chose "other" would elaborate on their answers...for example, I'd love to know what the "other" options are for Q7.

7 We don’t have keeper list. You get your franchised roster for that season + 10 other non keepers to draft and use for one season.
