SIGN UP FOR SEASON 90

SIGN UP FOR ONE OF THE BEST DRAFT LEAGUES in WIS History!

Originally created many moons ago by examinerebb and continued for years by sinfonian11, and tridentric, this league makes any franchise a contender, and a better group of owners can't be found on the site.

he rules are simple:

1. Each owner chooses a franchise. Franchise draft order is in inverse order of win percentage from the previous season for non-playoff teams, then inverse order of win percentage of non-World Series playoff teams, with the WS runner-up picking 23rd, and the WS champ choosing last. New owners will be assigned the draft position of any previous owners who are not returning, with the first to sign up receiving the highest slot, and so on. Division alignment will be determined randomly after team selection is complete.

2. Each owner chooses five players he/she wishes to protect from that franchise (1975-present) and submits that list via sitemail to me. Those players are the exclusive property of their respective owners.

3. After all lists are submitted, they will be posted and a three round modified Rule V draft will be held, with draft order being inverse order of each franchise's Rule V win percentage through all legs from last 22 versions (v66 thru v89) (the worst teams pick first). Many thanks to schwarze for compiling this data. Each owner selects one unprotected player from any active franchise but their own (player seasons for franchises that were not chosen are not eligible). That player is also theirs exclusively. No more than two players may be taken from any one franchise in any one round.

4. At the end of the first and second rounds, each owner will choose an additional player they wish to protect. You will end up protecting seven in all, while drafting three. These ten players must appear on your roster. The rest of the roster is filled by players from your franchise during the given time period (1975-present).

5. **Division Alignment will be based on historical league W-L% (from seasons 66-89), with the worst 4 teams selected being placed in the NL East and the best 4 teams selected being placed in the AL West.

No DH in odd number seasons (of the league). Yes to DH in even number seasons (of the league). We are starting Season 90 - there will be a DH in Season 90.
No AAA

No clones (same player, same franchise - if a player played for more than one franchise, he is available once for each franchise).

If a player split time between multiple teams in a season (as listed at WIS) he is is available once for each team.

Stadium must have been used by your franchise for at least one full season between 1975 and present.

Tiebreaker for draft positions will be run differential from the previous season, worse differential picks first.

*New Rule - SHOHEI OHTANI RULE - Shohei Ohtani will be considered 2 players, he can be drafted 1 as a hitter, and 1 as a pitcher. If an Angels/Dodgers owner wants both of him, he will count as 2 keepers.

Also I will just say that, irrespective of whether it's a good change or not, with a group of people so tenured to the theme I'm not a fan of "I am imposing stylistic preference on the rest of the league without input from its players." It does feel a little weird to go from a setup that was voted on by the whole, to undoing what was voted upon without a vote.

Conveniently, there was some discussion off-site recently that some kind of rotation the way that Random Captain adds a DH every 4th season might make sense for this league, like every 4th season we just open the pool back up wholly to 69-present or something. Maybe every other season. Maybe something different, idk.

I’ll be back. But what AV said, I think this could have been discussed rather than delivered as an edict.

I understand the concerns that this change was done solely by me. It may be unpopular to some, and others may like it. I've found in many leagues over the course of 25 years and 1200 teams of playing here, that so many people have different opinions that even voting doesn't always have a clear answer. There is also the concern on '"who gets to vote". We have many long time owners, 50 seasons plus, still playing, along with some newer owners.

I promise I don't want to lose the integrity of this league, but it's a change that I think will make the league more attractive and more fun. Similar to the division alignment change I made after I took over. This year the Rays made the playoffs. An unlikely scenario with the random alignment from years past, or even the regional alignment that we had for so long. More owners are willing to take the Rangers, Rays, etc, because of this rule.

Please accept my sincere apologies for those that I may have offended by not asking opinion. It wasn't out of disrespect at all.

I actually like this idea. Baseball has had the dh for a long time now. Why shouldn't we?
