Capital Athletic Conference: Year 12-pres Topic

With the defending DIII national champion in house, I thought it only right and proper that we have our own forum. I'll post some preseason predictions for our conference after recruiting. Good to see a full house for year 12.

Hey andrewfrance - just wanted to say congrats on bringing Catholic the national Chanpionship. I spent several seasons as coach there, and have been keeping tabs on the old program.
11/25/2005 1:46 PM
Needless to say, you have done a great job.
11/25/2005 1:47 PM
Thanks Dedrew. I had Rhodes (who you brought in from Oregon) and Martin Bart (who I redshirted as a junior) from your old squad. They were instrumental in my run.
11/25/2005 7:31 PM
andrewfrance - congrats on the Nat'l Championship...

Don't kick my Montclair State Red Hawks too bad in the first regular game of the year...

First timer with a very poor team...

11/29/2005 1:25 PM
I was not hospitable guest when visiting Montclair State. For that you have my apologies, scuz.

On to the predictions:

WCAA Tournament teams: Catholic (as a 2 seed),

Villa Julie if they somehow avoid the axe (as a 4), Baptist Bible (as a 12)

PIT teams: St Mary's of Maryland (don't underestimate BMill)

1st team all conference:

C Rodrick Coburn, Salisbury

PF Jorge Priolo, Mary W.

SF Robbie Keith, CUA

SG Darrell Johnson, Mary W.

PG Alexander Eldridge, Goucher

Newcomer of the Year: Owen Locklear, Hood.

Most likely to go on probation, and that right soon: Coach_R

Thanks for the vote of confidence andrew but if I make it to the PIT with this team, I'll eat my shorts! I think your probation pick is a lock.

I'm glad I'm in the conference... but I really need to step it up, apparently.

Let's look at my predictions:

Catholic is looking reasonably solid as a #2 or 3 seed (low ranking, but high RPI)

Villa Julie did not avoid the axe.

Baptist Bible is looking like a PIT team unless they pick it up.

Goucher is looking like a tourney team and Marymount is in the hunt.

BMill is still great, but 8 losses right now ain't great, even if one is by more than 11 (and that was 14).

1st team all conference:

C Rodrick Coburn, Salisbury -- Not a bad pick, but CUA's Powell and Corcoran for MW should be in the discussion

PF Jorge Priolo, Mary W. -- probably #2 to Rich, but they are really 1A and 1B, the 2 best big men.

SF Robbie Keith, CUA -- hasn't scored that much. This is probably O'Kelley's (MW) to lose

SG Darrell Johnson, Mary W. -- I'm the man (Exhibit I)

PG Alexander Eldridge, Goucher -- (Exhibit II)

Newcomer of the Year: Owen Locklear, Hood -- He's crumbled under my lofty expectations. This spot is Jose Stevens' to lose.

Keep up the good work Andrew

So what am I doing wrong if two of my player made the all conference team, and we're still losing? It's not like the rest of my team is that much worse.
