9th Annual Webby Award Winners Announced

May 3, 2005 - WhatIfSports has been named "Best Sports Site" for 2005 as judged by the International Academy of the Digital Arts and Sciences. ESPN.com and BBCSports.com were among the other finalists.

A first-time Webby Winner, WhatIfSports.com joins a growing list of companies including Amazon.com, eBay, Yahoo!, Evite, ESPN, SportingNews and Google -- all recognized in the past by the Webby Awards as industry leaders.

Winning a Webby Award is an unparalleled accolade recognizing the very best of the Internet. With over 4,300 sites entered from all 50 states and over 40 countries, it's no easy task to take home a Webby.

On a personal note, everyone here at WIS wants to thank everyone who took the time to vote for us and while we didn't win the People's Voice Award this year, we're pretty confident ESPN is afraid of us now. Ok maybe not afraid, but at least worried. Ok maybe not worried, but at least they know we exist!

It was an honor just for us to be nominated and even more of an honor to actually win. Honestly, it's a testament as much to the "WIS Nation" as it is to any code we've ever written.

As always, thanks for supporting WhatIfSports,

- The WhatIfSports Team
