I was going to riff on this post with a comment like: "Yeah, mberg, nobody without a Random Captain championship goes on Mt Rushmore."

Before posting I checked back through the previous Random Captain seasons (we're in #37 now), and to my surprise discovered mberg did actually play in my theme once, in the second season, way back in 2008.

And he won -- swept all three playoff rounds, too!

I believe crazystengel. The dude is not a prolific player, but when he plays he petty much wins. 41 Championships in 77 seasons. 34 Theme Leagues, 7 TOC. Scary opponent.

I guess you can say 41 championships in 84 seasons. Only bettered by two guys that played 10 and 46 seasons an were almost exclusively Open League.

Some of the best owners in site history (many already named in this thread) have played in the league at some point in order to try to reach the WS and get an advantage in the TOC, so it's likely the best available source to compare top owners from, though sample sizes are very small for most.

Useful and interesting. Thanks, Mike. Hard to pick a top four. mberg is the best I've ever seen and plays on a whole different level, but ozomatli is right there w/ him in the kill zone. Can't remember which owner used winter_frost, but 8 WS titles in 10 teams is pretty good. Ligapelota, John GPF, lazerhawks, elbirdo, contrarian, JFranco, WaitNSee, skunk, richard3244, crazy, mensu, sford, shaybee, point_piper, RS66, gbonini, disco & cwillis are all great. And when hebdomad and joerat1 have their A game, they're tough to beat these days.

Never had the chance to play ligapelosi..but the dude Won more championships than I have total seasons. Thats crazy.

However, as someone who only played open for many years and now only play progressives the last 3-4, I can say this. There used to be multiple strategies guys used (I was too dumb to know) whether it be "superman' pitching, Addie Joss, OF Range, etc. where I did see many owners simply feast on newbies like me...a lot of seasons even with different players but same model....I can say this now...Progressives are harder and less gimmicky but you guys already know that...I will never have that many Championships....probably never 50.

I would nominate thejuice6 for he leads the SLB portion of the site in theme leagues created. He has created 681 theme leagues and the nearest owner is schwarze with 367. I don’t think juice can be caught.

I've been searching and reading old posts in this forum, it's almost as much fun as the game.

I look at the acomplished managers and just marvel. I would be amazed if I ever played in 100 leagues let alone win 100 championships.

I know the game has changed many times through the years and different caps mean different stratagies.

I'm guessing not many will want to play...BUT...I'd love to hear from the longtimers at WIS...

That granite face on the left (?)... That print'd face on every
$1 bill, ---familiar in economies world-wide (?)...

Although most of our faces are anonymous to the mind's
eye, ---the W!$ MOUNT RUSHMORE starts with "JohnGPF"
way over there on the left... Any other possible design and
layout should definitely NOT be approved...

education in gambling... Lost $10 betting on the amount
of people we could squeeze into a Volkswagen Beetle...

So, to relieve over-crowding for spots #2, #3, & #4, I am
proposing that we sculpt a bigger Mt. Rushmore, adding
a 5th figure to the large W!$ mountain we created here...

Mt. Rushmore, itself, ---is also overcrowded with roads &
hiking trails... With some effort, the back north side that
faces Canada can also be view'd... Since the front facing
south side has no room, my proposed addition of No.#5
could only be one lone username here... The "perfect fit"
for the backside of that mountain...

"juggalo_steve" (of course) deserves No.#5, flaunting his
own 'back-side", ---on the mount's backside...

Am convinced that he would truly love that, ---no doubt...

Yeah he was awesome. You saw you were in the league with him, you scaled back your expectations.

And always that team name DOMINICANBOGGS WITH... and then came the variation and he still beat you no matter what he put up there.

Is he not on the site any more?

Also a great list. JohnGPF was before my team, which I am sorry for. elbirdo - the wizard of pitching. WaitNsee I never met online here, but skunk206 is as good a league member as there is anywhere.

And contrarian23, who could probably win a zillion more championships than he does, but is too smart and passionate about the game and about challenging himself, so he is more interested in seeing what else he can do rather that go with things he already knows would make him win more often. And he still wins a lot. Plus he is as generous as they come in providing information and insight to others, one of, if not the best citizen on this website.
