I haven't been to the forums in forever and came here expressly for this. These guys are the reason people were building bomb shelters in 2000. How do you mess up that coding? Did we have this same problem in 2020? I'm just wondering if they're going to fix it, or just let us sit around for a day until games pick up again on 3/1.

Y2K24 Leap Year edition.

My guess is when the site crashed yesterday they didn't bother to look at a calendar when they rescheduled games and forgot there was a 2/29.
I feel bad for the people there dealing with code from the mid 90s. Think about it...it still takes as long for them to simulate games in 2024 as it did when HBD started close to 30 years ago.

Is "1990s coding" obsolete or too complex? No. Their PSA doesn't mention compiling or execution issues. Sounds like server side hardware problems.

No, the code from the 90s doesn't have to be a problem, but if it wasn't documented and the original coders aren't around it very well may be a real problem.

I was stating that even with the huge difference in computing hardware, the games take as long to simulate today as they did close to 30 years ago.

"All events and games scheduled for 2/29 have been moved to 3/1."

So unless you saw there was no 2/29 on the schedule before yesterday, this is why there is no 2/29 on the schedule now.

Almost good except one of my worlds 3-1 AM still not running, 3 hours late.

And now the schedule shows no 3/1…the morning game shows as 3/2

lol in our world they completely skipped the rule 5 draft and went straight to ST games. but hey - take 10% off your next purchase!

HBD was released in early 2006. Most of the software coding was done in 2005. Still old code but not from the 90s.

So.. Anyone doing anything or what? Can't be that difficult, let me have a crack at it. My best guess is they aren't doing a thing.

You're right...I was tossing in some hyperbole.
The code is roughly 20 years old. There have been hardly any changes in computing power, speed, etc. since then.
