Draft Tips

• Don't spend a lot of cash on backup position players unless you plan on platooning at a position
• To avoid fatigue issues, make sure you draft enough innings to get you through the season (1,500 is a good estimate) and have 500-600 plate apperances at each position
• Draft to fill roles; for example, you'd want a low cost, high inning pitcher to be your mopup pitcher and/or a cheap, speedy position player to come off the bench to pinch-run
• Make sure your starters have enough innings to be able to recover from start to start
• Make sure to choose a ballpark which complements your team and vice versa
• We do NOT recommend joining a theme league if you're just beginning

Game Play Tips

• Full-season leagues have many more options/features and are MUCH more competitive than spring-training leagues
• Managerial hierarchies provide you with control over in-game replacements
• Make sure you set your lineups versus RHP and versus LHP
• It's wise to have a pitcher designated for each role
• Assigning individual player settings will give you much more control of your team
• Having a reliever eligible to enter a game in any inning is very important
• Setting target pitch counts will help you distribute innings amongst your staff
• AAA prospects can both help and hurt a team - decide when to call someone up for evaluation and for how long you'll give them a look
• A waiver wire will be available, but remember there's a 10% transaction fee with each claim
• Since all the teams have the same payroll, winning is not easy, especially for beginners. It's very rare for beginners to win a League Championship. Don't get discouraged!
