Two from the top 8.   One from the bottom 5.  And SD was right there.

Yeah, MLB needs a salary cap.   The low payroll teams have no chance.

It's way easier to complain that the Yankees don't do it "the right way" (which means, "the way my team has to because our owner doesn't want to spend the money") than to point out facts.

The Marlins got almost $44MM in revenue sharing.  They spent $57MM on payroll.

Anyone with an HBD team could have told you this. Duh.
10/5/2010 10:41 AM
Where do all 8 teams in the post season stack up?
10/5/2010 11:34 AM
#10 - Giants
#11 - Twins
#15 - Braves
#19 - Reds
#21 - Rays

Because there's revenue sharing, there should be a salary floor.  The Yankees shouldn't be the ones paying other team's players.
10/5/2010 11:40 AM
There is a floor. It's 0.

Unless a team released that they were going to offer anyone the opportunity to play on a major league baseball team for a fee.  Then they wouldn't have a player payroll...they would have player revenue.

Good point.

The beer belly league theory.

The Twins at #11 kinda shocked me.  I've never really seen them as big spenders.

They have started to spend more and more the past 2 years because

A. Carl died and his sons took over
B. The new stadium was on the way
C. They had to pay Mauer and Morneau
