Agreed.  The Cards played well, but I think Howard and Oswalt (and to a lesser extent Lee) have to bear the brunt of this one on the Phillies side.  All had huge chances to put this thing away and came up way short.

That was one of the best games I've ever seen, and not just because of the great outcome. Both teams made great plays, and close calls made the difference on the wall shots by Ibanez and Utley. And Halladay vs. Carpenter was all it was hyped up to be. It was reminiscent of the night that Joe Frazier beat Ali with a 15th-round haymaker.

I hope the Cardinals finish well, and TLR then announces his retirement. He's had a good run, but I'd like to see a fresh approach in St. Louis.

And I hope Albert finishes well, too, but I've stopped worrying about whether he'll leave. The Cardinals have a strong lineup without him: Furcal, Theriot/Punto, Holliday, Berkman, Craig, Freese, Jay, Molina, and the return of Wainwright.

Finally, keep Jackson and trade Westbrook.

He's a hack.  Enjoy the hack's performance in the playoffs.  But he's still a hack.  Christ, the White Sox supposedly won the World Series with nothing but hacks.

Great to see Albert come unglued tonight and the offense as a whole. With home field advantage now and some momentum, Cards have a slight edge.
