Canucks Thread - We Still Believe Topic

7-1 victory over the Stars the other night was refreshing. Hopefully they are back on track. Nashville will be a tough. They always seem to have a solid team in Nashville even though no one in Nashville knows they have a team there. Hopefully someone else will score some points besides the Sedins and Kesler.

I'm thinking that Luongo starts Vs the Preds and Schneider will play in Dallas on Tuesday. Luongo would then start in Phoenix on Wednesday.

The look on Sweatt's face after scoring his 1st NHL goal reminded me of my son when he scored his first goal. Goes to show that men are not far removed from children. Congrats to Lee Sweatt. Now lets hold these guys off.

Edler out for surgery!   Possibly for the season. Hopefully back for playoffs.

Huge blow, best Dman and one of their 4 most valuable players. I guess it justifies having 6 Dmen making 3 mill plus and frees up the room for Salo's contract. But is Salo playing? I heard rumblings Salo may never play again, though I know he's skating with the team?

I'm not sure about Salo never playing again? I personally never heard that. Someone in Vancouver might have more insight on that then me. Losing Edler will hurt but will not disable this team. We are deep on "D" and the way this team plays I'm confident we will get through it.

I couldn't wait to throw out the NHL players poll which voted Luongo the hardest to score against. 17% of the players polled said he was the hardest to score Vs. It was a tight poll though with Miller getting 16%, Thomas 15% and Lundqvist 14.8%. Pretty good company I'd say. There are alot of people out there who disagree with this but who would know better, the players or the guys that like to bash him because he make too much $$.

Luongo makes $10,000,000, Lundqvist=7,750,000, Miller 6,250,000 and Thomas makes 6,000,000. That is there salary. The cap hit for the same 4 players are; Luo=$5,333,000 Lund= $6,875,000, Miller=$6,250,000 and Thomas= $5,000,000. I don't think Luongos contract is killing us as bad as some people think.

Big goalies with big equipment blocking pucks. The "great" goalie isn't worth the extra money vs. the "good" goalie anymore. it's not Luongo's fault. He could be the greatest goalie in history. His value is his replacement cost. If Schneider ($900,000) is even only 90% as good as Luongo, what's Luongo value. Not 10 mill, not 5 mill. Nothing Luongo does can change this. I don't think Gillis should have offered that deal. Other GMs have seen the light. Let's hope the Canucks don't end up losing key Dmen because of cap issues.

Are the Canucks going to bring in disgruntled Oiler offensive dung-disturber Dman Sheldon Souray?

Rolling, rolling, rolling. Special teams were the differance tonight for sure. I have not seen any highlights, just the box score. Kesler is a monster. Give the man the "C".Schneider beats the Stars again too. Canucks are back in 1st overall with 73 pts. 2 more then Philly.

Perhaps Tomas Kaberle? I agree they have to go for it now...the stars seem to be aligning in their favor this season.

Unfortunately, like Andru says, things do seem to be aligning, and for a Flames fan this all looks eerily familiar.  In 1988, a powerhouse Flames team looked really good during the season (the same year the Olympics were in Calgary), only to lose a heart-breaking second round series to the Oilers.  The very next year, (the year after the Olympics), the Flames totally dominated the season and went on to win their first Stanley Cup.

There.   Don't ever say I never did nothin for ya!

Wouldn't it be something if Calgary somehow snuck into the playoffs as the number 8 seed, and they took the Canucks to 7 games, only to lose after some Vancouver mucker kicks in the winning goal!
