why would Bieksa fight thugs? and take the best player in these playoffs off the ice??mind boggling logic?

After watching the highlights you could see that Marleau dropped the gloves first. Kudo to him for showing a little heart. Too bad he throws em like a girl though.

Any time Marleau (or any Shark actually) takes Bieksa to the box for 5 minutes, big advantage Sharks. I mean of course Eager wants to fight Bieksa. A nut case going to the box with the series MVP. Yeah okay.

I have to side with Bieksa on this one. It was Marleau who chose to fight. I don't have any problem with this one. Where I will have a problem though is that next game, if a Shark like Clowe or Thornton wants to challenge Bieksa in response to that fight and he declines, that doesn't say much about his character. Eager is one thing, but I think fighting Clowe or Thornton is perfectly within Bieksa's fighting class.

If you're gonna fight the non-fighters, be prepared to deal with the consequences. That's all I ask of Kevin (which I know he actually did with Brouwer the game after his Stalberg fight).

Marleau 6'2" 220 lbs
Bieksa 6'1' 198 lbs??????????

Differance is Marleau fight's like a girl, Bieksa would have beat him up more, but he couldn't stop laughing.........

How could you be more wrong. Bieksa is not a fighter. He's the #1 Dman (in minutes) on the best team and has 2 goals in this series. Yeah Clowe would love to go to the box with with Bieksa because only one of those 2 guys is even noticable in this series. Vancouver doesn't have any fighters. Bieksa defended himself. It's like you saying Daniel Sedin should fight Clowe or Thornton. Exactly the same thing. Like Detroit, Vancouver doesn't really have any fighters. They're a hockey team. So every such argument is fail fail fail. If you want to see the Canucks lose then of course one would want to see all their best players fighting. Why would they be that stupid.

Fact: Chicago, San Jose, Boston can't play hockey with the Canucks and succeed. They need to resort to something else.

He wasn't really laughing, he was actually muttering "life is like a box of chocolates....."

You know what peter, if nothing else I always, ALWAYS laugh when I read your posts about the Canucks. Why? Because you seem to be a very knowledgable hockey fan except when it comes to your own team.

Kevin Bieksa is not a fighter in the mold of Ben Eager or John Scott, and I realize that. I never suggested he should fight guys like that. But since he's been an NHL regular, he's had 23 regular season fights over 5 seasons. To say he's not a fighter at all is obviously wrong. The NHL has always had 3 types: the non-fighters (Pavel Datsyuk, Ilya Kovalchuk, Martin St.Louis), the ones who occasionally fight (Mike Richards, Mike Komisarek, and yes, Kevin Bieksa), and the heavyweights (Ben Eager, John Scott, Steve Ott).

Bieksa is playing the best hockey of his career right now, and no one can take that away from him. He's a big reason why the Canucks are where they are and is playing all situations. But you still have to keep things in perspective. Sean Bergenheim also leads the playoffs in goals. It doesn't make him a future Hart Trophy winner.

As I've said many times before, I'm rooting for the Canucks to bring a Cup back to Canada, but please do not compare them to the best franchise of the last 20 years (Red Wings) until they've won AT LEAST 1 Cup.

Thats the problem with Vancouver fans andru... they do know hockey, the game and the players... unless it is their team...  blinder effect to the extreme.. I mean they actually do believe Bieksa is the best ever defenseman (or fighter depending on their mood) to ever play the game of hockey... Everybody has a bias to their own team, but Canuck fans are crazy blind... its the very reason them winning the cup will be a nightmare for 10 years and I pray every night it wont happen

nick, instead you should pray for 10 years the Flames can make the playoffs and finish ahead of the Winnipeg Thrashers

I like to pray for things that have at least a chance of occurring

Hey the Flames had a successful season..........BECAUSE they got rid of SUTTER!!!

Both Clowe and Thornton out weigh Bieksa by 40lbs ..if Setoguchi or Pavelske want to go with Juice? im all for it,even though i think Bieksa would destroy Thornton even with the weight difference.. but it makes no sense for Bieksa to come off the ice ,so far he is the series MVP..any time the opposition can take Bieksa or a Lidstrom off the ice ..even for 2 min its a huge advantage..i predict 20 shots for the Sharks in the first ..Luongo should be right into this one early..all warmed up..Eager and Murray will take early runs at the Sedins and Canucks will respond..i hope the refs let both teams play ..not pp after pp ..dont make this a special teams affair.. I would love to see Rypien back ..I bet Eager wouldnt be so cocky when a guy 50lbs lighter than you is caving your head in..

Hell, Canuck fans defend Alex Burrows for being a hair-pulling *****.  There is NOTHING less manly than pulling hair, yet they dismiss it.
