I recall hawks management at one point (recently, I remind you) believed that until fans filled the seats they would not put their team on tv.  thats also pathetic.  its a professional sports team.
Correct, it was pathetic, and the guy responsible for that is long dead and gone.  Rocky has been a Godsend and changed the culture of the team.  We now expect success and already have one Cup in the bag.

we will all be dead by the time the next Fluke happens!

godsend eh?

you've been saying for a year now that the hawks HAD to get rid of Buff, Ladd, Niemi, etc right?

Why did they have to?

Contracts were to high, Bonuses for winning the cup right?

Cup bonuses = $3 mil if I recall - thats one player (versteeg, buff, ladd, niemi all $3 mil each if you include arby) - Why were Buff, Ladd, and Versteeg all getting paid $3 mil instead of the usual $6 mil or less 3 year contracts?  I know you'll say Dale Tallon... he's gone.

Dale Tallon -  lets talk about him... The responsibility should fall on his shoulders I agree - but I highly doubt it was his specific job to handle RFAs.  Bowman worked for him?  Could it have been Bowman's job and Tallon was just the fall guy since he's the head honcho?  I don't know.  Bottom line is they are all hawks management.... and that was a pathetic and costly error.

This happened in 2009.... Bill Wirtz died in 2007.  Under your "Godsends" watch..... this event took place.

Prop Rocky up on a pedestal for bringing them back on TV (like it was a tough decision considering the only non-televised team in all major US sports was the Hawks) but when you do prop him up please consider he was also the guy that owned the team during the RFA snafu.... the one that caused 9 playoff-less seasons of top draft picks to get away.

I'll say it again - the hawks should have had a fantastic run had they not lost 11 players in one offseason - instead they are rebuilding again.  Champs to Chumps in one season.  pathetic - and its managements fault.

I'm done with this subject.  believe what you want.

What a retarded argument! Champs to chumps ine one season? Who the heck cares? They won it. Period! How that is a failure is beyond me. Championships are everything! Why's the point of playing if your always playinG for tomorrow? If you had to sell everything tomorrow for a cup today your a frigging moron if u don't get on the auction block
The flyers won the stanley cup in 1975 too... sorry but I'm not content putting out a team that can't win the cup for 35 seasons... maybe hawks fans are. I would also rather be consistantly dominant and win many cups like the wings and the pens have done rather than a flash in the pan. enjoy your ONE cup suckers.

Ummm...the Penguins have been FAR from consistently dominant. They won the Cups they did by entirely rebuilding their team. Twice.

1989-2001 = Lemieux Era - 2 Stanley Cups (back to back), 12 playoffs in 13 seasons
2006-Present = Crosby Era - 1 Stanley Cup, back to back Stanly Cup appearances, 5 playoffs in 5 seasons

Toews Era = Over. No Physical Support. No Cap Space. ****** Team Management.

I'm now convinced moy is just having fun because nobody could possibly buy what he's selling.  Seriously....it's not even close to being true,

You're in for golf on August 5th, right moy?  I'm starting to put it together, but I fear it's gonna be a clusterfook this year for some reason.

I do have to agree with the raving Lunatic Nickhead on this one..Canucks have for years played the safe route and continually thought about the the future..the future that never comes..sometimes you need to sacrafice some future to win today..after Vancouver wins this year they can deal Hodson and Schneider and twopeat or threepeat  while the core is still solid ..you cant have it both ways

The failure is not the cup.... the failure is managements rfa fuckup. 9 years of top picks from playoffless seasons left in one offseason. That is **** poor management. Read what I said.... hawks should have won more had management not set them up for a one and done. Now they are no more of a Stanley cup threat than the Minnesota Wild. Neither are a real threat.

Their cup is more like a marlins world series champolionship. Congrats on the win and welcome back to sucktitide.

I actually agree about playing for now..... and not the future. Unfortunately due to hawks mismanagement the hawks once again are building for 2-3 seasons out rather than for the present if players like Leddy, Morin, Kruger etc are being relied on in 2011.
