This is where randle posts that Campbell was looking out for his kid and ordered Murphy to give him a long suspension.
and for good reason...its so obvious even bruin fans see it now

Yup.....it's obvious that even though he is required to recuse himself from anything involving his kid's team (first Florida, now Boston), and despite the fact that he stepped down from the position before the series, he's still pulling all the strings. I don't know if I should laugh or cry at how pathetic some of you are with your conspiracy theories.

Cry.

4 games for a late hit...ridiiculous...chara, horton and lucic have done far worse and all they ever get is high fives from the league...what is even more ridiculous is recchi and lucic runnning around trying to shove their fingers in other people mouths... like get a room

This decision is undefensable for the league.  The most anyone has ever had in Stanley Cup Final is 1 game, this is a first-time offender, who probably wouldn't have even gotten penalty if Horton hadn't been injured (or had his head up).

It's a helluva time for the league to decide to set a new standard.

I was worried about this.  The game was on American national TV, Finals in Boston.  The level of play had been high in those first two games, really intense.

Last night, regardless of the penalized hit and the later tomfoolery, the game was really friggin' intense and there was MONSTER hitting on BOTH sides.  Then it got out of hand, which anyone who plays hockey knows can and will happen on occasion.  Unfortunately some hockey events happened on a showcase night for the NHL in the USA.

Sure enough, I go to Sports Illustrated.com today - OUTSIDERS TO HOCKEY - and the headline says, "NHL SPIRALLING OUT OF CONTROL."  Jezus.

The NHL has effectively said, BACK OFF on the hitting, boys.  Makes for bad TV.

Which, though it was precipitated by a Canuck's action, was precipitated by the Bruins' willingness to fight back.  They're tough bastards, Lucic and Chara will go hair trigger at anytime.

End result - less hitting - should actually favour the Canucks.

4 GAMES???  WTF!  Now the NHL goes overboard!

Stars get star treatment.  Grinders get crapped on.  This is really unacceptable.

Still crying about Chara hitting a cheap player that
1.  Wasn't late
2.  Didn't leave his feet.
3.  Wasn't blind sided.

...and this suspension may only increase the dirtiness of the series, especially from Burrows, Lucic and the like.

4 Games

"Two factors were considered in reaching this decision," said NHL Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations Mike Murphy.  "The hit by Rome was clearly beyond what is acceptable in terms of how late it was delivered after Horton had released the puck and it caused a significant injury."
complete bull**** and completely ridiculous.  whether someone is injured or not is irrelevant to the suspension.  the only relevance was that the hit was late.  other than that it was a good clean hit.  suspending him at all is a travesty.  suspending him for an unprecedented four games is idiotic.  even goon boy pronger only got a single game for his second intent to injure in the same playoff year.  roame didn't have any intent to injure, just finishing his check late.  it's gonna make the rest of this series a bloodbath.  :{

The hit "LATE HIT" warranted a penalty.  The 5 minute call on the ice, and the game misconduct were "The only penalty's that should have been called".  5 and a game was all that "LATE" hit warranted..........No suspention.  Bunch of crap.
6/7/2011 9:45 PM
honestly, i don't think it even deserved the game misconduct.  i think a five minute major was enough.  if horton had gotten right back up, it would have been a two minute minor and forgotten after the ensuing powerplay.  i felt the torres hit on seabrook in round one was much worse, and they didn't feel that warranted a suspension.  :{
6/7/2011 9:54 PM
and torres was a repeat offender. :{

The NHL finally gets one right.  Color me shocked.
