you know, the more I think about it the more the ehrhoff contract reminds me of the Campbell signing. here's a team with new ownership that's had trouble keeping, let alone attracting free agents that now wants to show everyone they're serious about building a winner.10 years is a looooong time, but nearly half his salary will be paid in the first 3 seasons which makes him traceable afterwards.

Yeah, I broke that deal down in detail in the Pit. $18M comes off the books after the 1st two years leaving 8yr/$22M ($2.75 cap hit) for a possible trade partner to assume. After the 1st two years, $4M comes off each year for the next four years, knocking the cap number down further as the contract goes on. $3M in year seven, and $1M/yr for each of the last three years. Bottom line, he is a desirable asset as long as he can skate at the numbers he'll make after the 1st two years.

The cap number actually doesn't fluctuate. It's a 4 million cap number for the duration of the 10 years.

Sean O'Donnell will help your D out BIG TIME.  Nice pick-up, your team is adding character players, and that is EXACTLY what your team needed.  I will start out next season ranking the HAWKS ahead of the RED WINGS now!!!!

It is becoming clear that coach "Q" has a HUGE influence with Hawk's senior management???  Nearly every one of the Hawk's free agent additions today have past connections with coach "Q".  Coach Q is your GM???

Is this a thread for the Chicago or Florida Hawks? Panthers now have Versteeg, Campbell, Kopecky

What a great job Stan has done.  This haul today isn't possible without the Campbell trade.  The depth was replenished with 3 nice additions all on one-year deals...deals that will ensure open spots for the youngsters to fight over in 2012.  I LOVE the Brunette signing.  We also added plenty of grit and sandpaper to the lineup, which is supplemented by the hockey IQs of the guys.

And Stan still has plenty of cash to make a bigger move and extend Sharp during the season.  Today was a good day.

I'm hearing the Hawks have signed Dan Carcillo.  I hope this isn't true.

1 yr, 775K.  That's acceptable.  Jim Hendry would have given him 5/36M and a no trade clause.

Ha ha ha.... just read a post that said Dan carcillo might be the worst possible role model for Kyle beach
