Bryzgalov is a short term fix........and a LONG TERM problem.

i disagree juskay.  they finally have a goaltender.  they have a former superstar that can probably still put up a point a game.  they have a gritty third liner that always has engery and can score a little in talbot.  their defense is solid.  i'm actually thinking the flyers look scarier than they did last year.  their like boston with better forwards.  :>

kidding aside.

We did pick up some picks... still have 2x 2nd rounders and 1x 3rd rounder + Courturier (1st round 2011) and Cousins (3rd round 2011).

But yes... we are relying on big time defense play and a goalie. they did beef up the forwards though. jagr, simmonds, voracek are pretty big players that can hit - talbot just hits.

I'd still like to see a move to get Anton Babchuk.

Schenn was the 5th overall pick a couple of years ago. So other than Jagr and Byrzgalov, Homer is building for the future. A lot of the new players that the Flyers aquired are less than 25 years old. Simmonds is 23 years old, Schenn is 19, and Voracek is 21. And this is not just in the transactions. JVR is 22, Bob is 22, Giroux is 23, and Nodl is 24 and due for a true breakout season.

I just heard that the Flyers are in the mix for Brad Richards. But who else will they move?

WOW - hearing a LOT about the flyers moving on Richards.


They have about $8 mil w/o simmonds, lappy on LTIR, and Schenn starting the season in the AHL.

It might not even be Richards... but its something BIG?!?!? Gotta love the excitement of being a Philly fan... now if only we would win a Stanley Cup.

I'm thinking that there will be a bidding war for him. I was watching the free agency special on NHL Network, and they were showing Twitter comments, and one guy joked that Richards would announce his decision on a LeBron James like special titled "The Decision."

I keep waiting for them to throw an O/S at Stammer (I mean when does Homer actually say something he really means "Carter is staying put" " Richie is untradable").... now that TBL has loaded up on players in FA... wait for Purcell to sign and then jump on it.
