Campoli will not be a hawk next season
And 3 yrs $7 mil for frolik..... HAHAHAHAHAHA. 9 points in 28 games for the hawks last season. Talk about overpaid!
A cap hit of 2.3 is not overpaying for Frolik considering what the market has been set at. He had a down season offensively, but he has scored 20+ goals in the NHL twice and also has some upside. If Kopecky is worth 3 million in this market, Frolik is surely worth 2.3. The fact that they went 3 seasons I think makes this a very good deal for the Hawks.
As for Campoli, I would have liked to see him return, but it seems his head got a little too big for the Hawks room. I do however understand that the combination of seeing Campbell moved and everyone this summer getting overpaid made Campoli think he was in for a big pay day. I'm glad to see the Hawks didn't over-value him. That said, Lepisto was a depth signing because now, without Campoli and Campbell, the defense is lacking in the puck-moving department, a role that is essential to the system they play. I suspect that if they don't get off to a good start, there will be a minor deal for a good-skating, 5-6 defenseman.
