It was a fan vote. Put stamkos on a large market team and the results are different.
Cmon moy...now you're making excuses for Stammer...I don't think anyone thinks any less of his 40+ goals or 90+ points because he plays in Tampa. I think the reason he lost is that people weren't very impressed with his first playoff performance.
I don't think I've ever met a real live lightning fan... have you? I'm pretty sure hawks fans are found all over the country.... and in Canada like yourself. And yes, with a fan vote fan favorites tend to win. A lot of hawks fans I know didn't even know who stamkos was until I told them. I honestly didn't even know who bryzgalov was until fa this season.... Phoenix gets no media out here and the flyers might play them once a year. Toews is on the cover of NHL 10. Big difference in media coverage.
Jersey sales between Toews and stamkos must be night and day.
Dont make the mistake of comparing hockey media coverage in the US and Canada. trust me moy, every single canadian hockey fan, no matter who they cheer for, knows who steven stamkos is and how good he is, and it's very likely the majority of voters on tsn.ca are in fact, canadian.
