I think their biggest loss came two years ago and it's finally coming back to haunt them now.  His name is Willie Mitchell.  He was the leader in the dressing room who used to wake up this team when it went astray, and now his presence is being sorely missed.  Last year, all the breaks went the Canuck's way and he wasn't as sorely missed, but now that the stars aren't all aligned properly (no pun intended), they desperately need him. Also, growing up a local boy, he probably cared far more about the team than anybody else.

I agree, losing Mitchell was a big loss for the Canucks.  Although at the time there were doubts he would ever be able to play again due to post concussion symptoms.  And he hasn't been the same player in LA.

I think their biggest loss was 3 years ago in the second round of the playoffs. That's when the canucks lost all confidence in their goaltender and in themselves that they could win the big game.

Finish the season at .500 fodder... then we can talk....who let the pretender into the convo?

The team has looked good lately.  Winning the race's to the puck......Winning the battle's along the board's.  Getting rewarded for the hard work.

Reason for last season's success..............................Look above!!!!!!

Pretender? I believe that's someone who's never won anything...now what team could that be.............

Roberto Who? Schniender has been stealing the spot light in Vancouver. Good for him too. This was the opportunity he's been waiting for.As most people in the Canucks forum know, I'm a big supporter of Luo but he's not bigger then the team. I hope coach V will continue playing Corey. I'm sure Gillis wants to see what Corey can do too. It's kinda win/win for Vancouver. Corey plays good and his value rises even more or we have an option of moving Luo somewhere(Tampa).

Lets leave Burrows on the first line for a while and let Kesler play with Higgins and Booth. Booth needs a kick start still too. Yotes tomorrow.

Schneider is every bit as good as Lou ..but with a quater of the price tag..that money can be used to upgrade elsewhere..it will be a sad sad day when Schneider is dealt //i hope they  trade Lou instead..that will be a tough day for me ..i dont know if i can keep my support for this team i have followed for 30 years...im tired of losing and if they trade the better goalie..? who knows?  im apathetic already..

All kidding aside randle, I think you sum up most canucks fans feelings perfectly in this post. As a long suffering hawk fan tho, I can tell u stick with them. Theyve got one of the better cores in the league and are a threat to go all the way every year and will continue to be for the next 4-6 years.

Not with Luongo they wont ..they will never win with him ..Schneider is a great young goalie , a great team guy.   how  would you feel if the Hawks had Stalberg making 10 million and Toews making 1.5 ..but your management continues to give Stalberg the prime minutes ,the pp time ..and you know they will eventually trade Toews who you and every Hawks fan knows is the better player...do you really know how i feel?

Luongo gets rattled pretty easily. That is by far his biggest problem IMO. When he's on his game there aren't too many better then him but he'll let in a bad goal and it's game over. I was sad the day Bertuzzi left but got over it. No player is bigger then the team. In fact if i trace the steps of some of my favorite Canuck players, they would all be included in trades that involved each other. LINDEN -> BERTUZZI->LUONGO.  I really would like to see Schneider play more, to see what he can bring as a starter. If we had Bert (in his prime) on our team now, we would be a great team.

I liked Bertuzzi as well ,he was a beast in his prime . I dont have the same praise for the other two..Linden was a ***** and il never forgive him for letting J.Otto humiliate him  in front of the team..that is not what a captain does..i hate the guy no matter how good he was in the community

Actually I do...just to a slightly lesser extent and in a different era...we went through something similar with dominik hasek nd ed belfour. A lot of people saw a lot more in hasek than the hawks did, and the rest is history.

so is Vigneault gonna put the f#cking idiot in net tomorrow/?    i bet  management hopes  Cory doesnt get back to back shutouts...such a joke ...i hope Schneider shuts out the Coyotes  just so Vigneault and Gillis realize how stupid it is to put Loseruongo in net just because he makes 10 million
