Money: is this possible? Topic

Does anyone carry a payroll of more than $14 million before their 5th season?  On top of a stadium with a ton of seats, too.   Just curious.

The most I have ever been able to cary is 9 mil per season. Consider this. right now I am making about $110K in revenue average per game with 38 games that total comes to approx 4.2 mil, then you add 4 mil for the money you are given at the start of the season and you get to a total of about 8.2 mil. I would say that is about max you can carry. If you league is very competative and you have lots of full stadiums you might be able to make more game revenue and therefore have more to spend each year. But I would say that you are going to have to dump at least 5mil in payroll to not have players taken off your squad. If you have lots of money in the bank you can have a larger payroll but it will dissappear quick if you have to spend an additional 5 mil per season.

Figures.  My squad is nearly all developmental in a 60K seater and I'm banking only 1 or 2M a season.

I'm thinking of starting a blacklist thread for outing/challenging coaches with impossible economics.  There's been lots of insinuation but I figure why not name names.

I haven't figured out the exact numbers but I have seen a couple of teams save bankroll for a number of seasons then just take a massive one shot season at a title.  But as pajamainc suggests, it's not really feasible to go over 9 million for more than one season - as far as I can figure - so you won't be able to re-sign the entire team, or if you do, the sim will just decimate your team at the beginning of the next season anyway.

The problem with having a big stadium and a cheap team is, while it's an investment of your resources, you probably aren't winning lots - yet - so you're not filling your stadium, so you're not banking a lot.

All true, damag.  After a few middle of the pack seasons (6h place with a bunch of sims), I decided to commit to build the house and recruit only teenagers, figuring once they get good 7 seasons down the road, I'll have a lot of free cash to shoot for a few big FA signings.

I saw 2 teams with ~14m payroll during the last 2 seasons, both in my leagues, none won title.

That takes serious patience.

You can take what you want out of it. Sure, we all want to win, but we've seen some real juggernaut teams that have been built thus far in FCD. What if you come into a league with a juggernaut, and it's also a competitive league, so the owners are knocking each other out for players? Winning may indeed be a very long term goal. So why not build a team that intrigues you, and see how far you can take it? These players DO develop, and even if you're competing for the title, it's still fun to grow a few of your own along the way.

Oh no damag I'm not saying at all that this is a "poor" strategy. If you can take a couple years of tanking then its definitely a recognized method of building a team. I've tried it myself once or twice, with varying degrees of success.

Nah, I didn't take it that way.  It does take patience.  As far as I'm concerned, a game that sims only one match a day (11 PM my time) does take patience.

All I wanted to point out was, it actually is "fun" turning a younger player into a good starter.  A couple of seasons and you're looking at his card saying, "hey, he doesn't suck anymore!"

With my 2nd alt team it took me 4 seasons before I win the league.Started the team at season8 and managed to sign 6 good and young players for reasonable salary.
At S11 all of them became 68-77 OA and even with 3 bars exp they helped me to win the title.

After the recent in game changes I am not sure how exactly can some new owner compete with "juggernaut" teams.

I have 14M in the bank right now... I'm not planning on using it tp go out and buy everybody, I just havent seen need to spend it yet.

Economics balance themselves out.  If a team saves up 30M and runs a 5 million deficit each year, obviously by year 6, that problem will get fixed.  The cheating is an issue in a couple of leagues but I think the budgeting works itself out over time.

I'm waiting on my FC team to be put into a league.  What payroll will I have to start with?

Starter teams usually add up to about what, $300k in contracts?  I'm guessing most of your players are around 40 OA.  Whichever league you get into will probably start your season off with a 4 million league payout.  So you will have the surplus over your existing contracts to spend, and you can fill out your roster up to 26 spaces.

Read the pinned topics up top for suggestions on how to go about improving your team's standing.  The short story is, eat losses your first season, build your stadium, save the cash you pick up that way for your second season.

Fill out whatever roster spots you can as you wish.  Depends on the world you're in.  I've seen brand new teams pick up nothing but 18 year old players and grow them.  You can also pick up mid-tier vets to get yourself mildly competitive right away.  Evaluate the starting roster you've been given, see what it really needs and what it doesn't.
