Mediterranean Ave please.

One question- suppose I draft the Mariners' pitching staff and inherit Gil Meche- he misses 01 and 02, so do I just pay the normal keeper price ($1M up to 20 $3M thereafter) in each of those seasons before using him again in 03?

No, there is no charge for inactive players that you place in IR.

Welcome deanod.

leave it to kneeneighbor to pick a "street" that's not on the list.  Try again knee. Don't collect the $200.

also, does unspent cash roll over from season to season, or does it get reset to 0 at the end of every offseason?

And just a minor suggestion, but I wouldn't mind having a DH in year 1 so I can bid like $65M for Edgar Martinez.  Maybe owners could just request AL/NL to start?

Cash rolls over from season to season, that's how you accumulate wealth.

i think i'd give this a try.... i'll have some questions...

do all players show up as OFers or IFers. do any show up as both?

Ahh- so it's not who accrues the most revenues, it's whoever is sitting on the biggest cashpile at the league's end?  got it.

Another minor suggestion- $100M cap with $5M opening bids is the same exact thing as an $80M cap with $1M opening bids- people just have to account for an extra $4M of deadweight for each empty slot, and are hence more likely to mess something up and make an illegal bid.

Really, I don't care what the cap is, I just think it would be a lot simpler to have $1M opening bids since $5M isn't adding any value to the game.

I think the theory with $5M bids is that everyone has to spend at least $25M per season.  $5M each for 5 lots, then $20M on keepers plus five $1M pickups each other season.

you dont have to set aside 5 million for each empty slot, you can spend your entire bankroll on 1 or 2 units if you wish. At that point you'd be entered into the Remaining Player Units Draft.

But where do I play if I don't spend $5M on a catcher/park?
8/26/2010 8:19 PM
Any owners who go broke and still don't have their 5 Player Units will have to wait until all other owners either have their 5 Units or also go broke.  At that point, any owners who still do not have their 5 units will enter a straight draft where they will draft unclaimed player units.

The order for that draft will be determined by the order in which owners went bankrupt. The owner who went belly-up first will have the last pick in each round, while the owner who took the longest to go broke will have the first pick in each round. The draft will continue until all owners have their 5 units.

It's all there in the rule book.

Well the rule book is long!  I misinterpreted that, I thought that we went straight to the stray player draft- forget that I spoke up because the system now makes a hell of a lot of sense.

Suppose I have 4 of my units and $10M left, but I'd rather roll my money toward next year than spend it on a 5th unit.  Can I elect to not spend the $10M and enter the bankrupt draft?
