I probably should figure out a word for this and add it to the WISC lingo thread...but I am pretty sure that the probability that one of your opening games goes deep into extra innings, depleting your pitching staff, is inversely proportional to how many innings you drafted.
The term or phrase needs to capture the notion that, while not true, we all feel that not drafting enough innings is a "sufficient condition" to ensure an immediate set of early season extra-inning games.  And, of course, one that includes the nefariousness of it all.

Something like the Achilles Heel syndrome. WIS searches, analyzes, and then attacks the lone weakness it sees in your team.

Ugh... 1-5 is bad, but getting outscored in the 5 losses 38-9 is really bad.

First peak into my teams; 16-14 overall. Just about where I expect to be. Then I looked further:

$70M:     0-5
$80M:     1-4
$90M:     2-3
$100M:     5-0
$110M:     4-1
$120M:     4-1

I think I see a pattern developing already...

Sure seems like my teams have been involved in a lot of extra inning games for so early in the season(s). So far the extra innings have not affected the pitchers much (but the hitters are all showing high usage rates). If this keeps up, I foresee troubled waters ahead.

I keep telling myself it's too early to read anything in to such things, but seeing a team I felt fairly good about start 0-5 is not fun.

I've had a bunch as well. I've been attributing it to a higher level of competition than in normal leagues, but it seems like a bunch even considering that.
