On the $100M league, you stated that there are no restrictions on multi-team players.  Does that mean that if he played at least one game on any of my 5 teams, I can use any version of him that year?

I think it means you can use either the Combined or Partial seasons of players that appear in the WIS database for the teams you select.  I don't think the intention was to allow anyone playing on your teams (via Baseball-Reference) to be able to be used.

For example, if you select the 2010 Mariners, you can either use the SEA only version of Cliff Lee (104 IP) or the combined version (212 IP) but I don't think you'd be able to use the Texas Ranger only version (109 IP) unless you also select the Texas Rangers as one of your 5 teams.  I also don't think you can roster anyone who just played any time on the 2010 Mariners and didn't have enough PA or IP with them but they did on another team.

At least that's my take on it but I"ll let Schwarze confirm if that's the case or not.

For the $90M twist league, if I'm using, say, the 1987 Braves, but I use Doyle Alexander's partial 1987 from the Tigers (i.e. not including his Atlanta innings), does that count as a twist?

Yes.  Anything other than '87 Braves seasons are twists.

For the 80M theme, just to verify that I am understanding the rules correctly:

Let's say I draft Wilson Delgado's 2000 season in the first round.  His next available seasons in the database are 1999 and 2003. Either season could be used in round 2, right?

Correct

God I am dying out here. One team to go. I am now on my 11th version of a $70 mil last place team. All versions make me ill. It will be time to just pick one and be done with it. I hate small caps.

I hear ya, Rick.  I've spent more hours on the 5X5 team than I care to admit.  I guess my expectations are too high and need to be lowered.

Is there a league where spreadsheets aren't your friend?!

Question on $90M Variable Twist:

For a long time I've been sitting on a team that I liked quite a lot.  Or rather, the core of the team, as I had not filled out the roster with scrubs.  I finally looked closely at the $300K Exception rule for the theme and I think I've got a problem: it's a deadball-era team that used only 20 players and there are only 3 available players with salary < $300K.

Is that team simply off-limits?

7/25/2012 3:56 PM
If there aren't enough 300K players to use, then yes, you have to try a different team (or different year).

Thanks for the answer -- I realized that it had been so long ago that I made the team that I had forgotten which year it was based on.  My actual year doesn't have that issue*, but it's still a good answer to have.

* But BOY does it have other issues!!
