I missed the part about having to use the highest salary year of the Joes.  Thank kind of sucks to learn.
Yep, a big part of the challenge is having to build around whatever hand you get dealt, and some of the Joes are inevitably less appealing than others.  No hard feelings if you'd prefer to withdraw.
No.  I'll still do it.  It just seems like if you get stuck with one of the absurdly horrible people getting picked you are very SOL.  I've never seen anyone sniff the playoffs in one of these style leagues when they get dealt one of those guys.  It's like a death sentence.

it's part of the glorious truth of this league that the random assignment of Joes can set you up with an advantage or give you a hole to dig yourself out of.  The cap should be high enough to allow a clever owner to draft their way to at least somewhat better fortune, and the playing field is a lot more level than it looks given how many good players are off the table (the Pros).  Guys you would never see in most other theme leagues actually can emerge as pretty useful.  vancem won the title in the second or third season of this league by playing Paul Seymour major minutes, and I think I made the first round of the playoffs once with Bob Cousy and Michael Adams logging most of the backcourt minutes.

The only way around that would be to break out the Joes into four tiers (by salary). Tier 1 = top 25% salary Tier 2 = 26-50% and so on. Every owner gets a Joe from each tier. At least no one would be stuck with 4 guys at the low base.

I'm down with it as it is, because I love randomness, but there are ideas to "fair it up" a little.

I really don't want to take 2 teams and then end up having them face each other in the league finals again.

Sounds like a high-class problem to me.

There are no vancem haters.  Some of the other kids may be jealous of you, but it's not the same thing...

Thanks. There are some decent Joes. I hope I get Calderon! Hahaha. I noticed you forgot to put West on the list. Just a heads up.
