As a Hornets fan, the draft is always a disappointment. As I watched my beloved Hornets pass on Justise Winslow for Big Frank this week, I couldn't help but think of all the times they've just missed a player (or passed up a player) that was a franchise changer.
Let's run a league where your entire team must consist of players that went 1 or 2 spots before or 1 or 2 spots after your team drafted (any round any season). If your team drafted 3rd, you can take the 1st, 2nd, 4th or 5th player selected and add them to your team. The player selected must be within two spots of your team's draft position. We can always say, what might have been.
* You may also have players on your roster that your team drafted and traded before they played a game. (ie, Kobe, Vince Carter, Dirk).
*You may only take one player per pick you're using. Let's say you are the Pistons who picked 2nd in 2003. As the Pistons, you can't take Lebron AND Carmelo.
* Territorial picks do not count as draft picks - therefore,
no one will be rolling with Wilt teams. Oscar Robertson is the only exception to this. Oscar may be chosen by the Lakers or Knicks franchises.
