The Pick Up League (3-in) Topic

I had a crazy idea for a league that I wanted to throw out into the community.

Basically, the idea is that everyone who wants to join in the league picks 5 players (and their perspective seasons) to add to the league. Once the league fills up, I'll add the remaining players (7 x 24) and from there we would have a draft to pick up players (draft order randomized) with serpentine order. By the end, no players should be remaining in the pool and all the teams should have exactly 12 players.

There would be no cap (or clones). If a player already exists in the pool he cannot be placed in again (NO CLONES in other words). Players provided shall have the season indicated next to them.

What will you choose? Concentrate the pool of players with legends of the game, or water it down with draft busts/partial seasons, or a mix of both?

Kind of an outlandish idea, but let me know what you guys think.

sounds cool.

so, we would add our first 5 players?

or, we would add 5 players, and then those would be available to everyone in the draft?

if it's the second way, i'll add 13-14 Goran Dragic, 01-02 Paul Pierce, 13-14 DeAndre Jordan, 81-82 Magic Johnson, 11-12 James Harden

The latter. Everyone who wants to join adds to the pool of players that everyone else can pick from. Once the draft comes along, we would all pick from that pool of players.

Only one season per player. Pick one version of LeBron and another player. Also, if those are bds' entries above, James Harden has already been entered.

I like the idea. Have some questions though.
Is draft order going to be a abab or abba for the first four rounds? Seems like the people at the top have an advantage.
How are you randomizing the draft order?
Did you consider having owners submit 10 players, two at each position?

ABBA (also known as serpentine) would be the draft (for all 12 rounds). I have also been considering having everyone draft a starting 5, and the remaining 7 be randomly assigned (with a balance of guards, forwards, and centers).

I will be using random.org to randomize the draft order.

I did not consider having owners submit 10 players, mainly because the math wouldn't work out. If everyone puts in 5 players, I can put in the remaining players (24 x 7) so that the player pool will exactly meet the demand. I'm considering coming up with a way of randomizing that process for myself so I don't have to hand pick players, but I've yet to sit down and get to that.
