The best part of the PPL was that many of the vet owners here worked together on the ruleset, so we ended up with a league we all wanted to be a part of.
The only thing I'd change is this: Honestly, it's hard to get 24 guys to stay committed to anything these days. Aside from changes in real life coming up that affect owners' retaining their interest here, there are things that happen on the site that just drive some people crazy. Even the last ppl, which was a pretty damn big success if I do say so myself, had several people bail even after putting in money at the beginning (and some of them were contenders). While I'd absolutely LOVE to do this prog until the end of my days, I doubt we'll get much more than a five season commit. With that in mind, we could just say that it'll be a five-season thing and you can therefore start a player at any point and even skip seasons, but the player always has to be moving forward in time.
For example, if I drafted Lebron James & wanted to start with 12-13, I couldn't go back and take 09-10 later. I could, however, start with 08-09, then go to 09-10, then 11-12, then 12-13, then 13-14 & it's done. It's still progressive, but there's more control seeing as you have a set goal in mind. That's just an idea. I think dh555 ran something similar to this idea. As I said earlier, I'd love to start this & run it for 20+ seasons.
