How did Bill Walton make the top 50 but Artis Gilmore and Dominique Wilkins didn't? Can someone please make some sense of that? Absolutely STUPID! As stupid as alot of the things Walton has to say.

looking at it, Im not sure how good the Hawks will be.. probably like in real life.. just good enough to make the playoffs but then get destroyed

Bill Walton probably made it because there was actually a time when he was regarded as the best player in the league (and he has a couple NBA championships). There's really no season when Gilmore or Dominique can say the same thing.

Gilmore won an ABA 'ship (which does not count) but I have to believe that if he spent those same years in the NBA then he would have an NBA title.  That might not be a bad theme.  Take the 24 best players in the ABA in a given year and put them on an NBA team during that same year.  Who gets their ring had there not been an ABA?  Whoever chooses the ABA player first gets last pick at the NBA teams to put them on.

I don't think his career even comes close to qualifying him for the top 50. He couldn't even play a full season. Greatest includes consistancy and longevity and Walton doesn't qualify for either of those. He wasn't nothin but a backup for his 2nd championship. Horry and Salley won more championships than Walton. They won a bunch and Horry was one of the greatest clutch playoff players ever but he isn't top 50. Barkley never won a championship but he was one of the greatest PF's ever. Are you really suggesting Walton should have been on the top 50 list and Dominique Wilkins shouldn't have? Two great seasons doesn't qualify a player to be considered as one of the greatest players ever. Lever had a better career than Walton but he will never be mentioned as a top 50 candidate. Grant Hill either! Walton, Hill, and Lever could easily make top 50 with healthy full careers but they were not that fortunate. Wilkins was an incredible player on some very average teams. Without Wilkins Atlanta would have been one of the worst teams in the NBA during his career.

totally agree with snydpie.  The only thing Walton should be on is the top 50 list of "could have been greats"  His son will have more rings and score more points over his career than him.  And Grant Hill is an excellent example of a player who a) had a better career than Walton and b) could have been in the NBA top 50 if he didn't get injured.  Put him on the "could have been" list with Walton, only I respect Grant Hill a hell of a lot more as a player, collegian, athlete, sportsman, and humanitarian.
