1989/90 Replay +2009/10 Stars-6 in! Topic

Haven't been able to get any interest in a progressive so I decided to see if there would be any interest in this idea. We will replay the 1989/90 season but each team will be able to add 1-3 players from the 2009/10 season, depending on their W/L percentage. Those players can replace any player of your choice from the WIS roster.

The number of 2009/10 players allowed to be drafted per team will be as shown below. The draft order will also be as shown, with teams tied for W/L pct. drafting in alphabetical order. The teams in the first group will have 3 rounds of picks, the 2nd group 2 rounds and the 3rd group only one round. Draft order will be as shown in all 3 rounds.If you choose the New jersey nets, you will draft 1st, if you choose the Lakers you will draft last.

Do you want a bad team with three 2009/10 players to improve your team or a good team with only one 2009/10 player added ? I will make my selection after 11 other owners have entered.

There will be no salary cap, no rookies. If this should prove to be a popular theme, we will repeat with a different replay year and the Championship owner will select the next replay year (any year prior to 1999/2000). Teams shown in bold/red face are taken.

Houston Rockets....I think this would do better if there wasn't a draft for the 09-10 player, but instead you pick what works best for your team.  If you do a serpentine draft and look at this purely by money then the Nets would have the 1st, 48th and 49th pick would could translate to Kevin Durant, Aaron Brooks, and John Salmons.   I do not think that is an intriguing team.

The draft is not snake style.

And.. not every team drafts in the second round so the Nets get the 1st pick, the 25th pick, and the and somewhere between the  40th and 43rd pick.  This would make the nets have say...

Lebron James, Deron Williams, and Caron Butler... or Kevin Durant, Nene, and Ray Allen.. (just looking at salary ranges to gauge picks). That nets team already has some decent bigs, a solid backup pg.. and alot of minutes at SF.. could be competitive I think.

If you take my bulls team.. I have Jordan, Pippen, Grant and then the relatively solid Paxson/Cartwright.. and only 1 pick that will be around 20th in the draft. That could be someone like Tim Duncan, Lemarcus Aldridge, Nene, or Gasol.. I don't think that is much better than the Nets.

Exactly-that's why I did the 1-2-3 scheme and didn't do serpentine. I understand malone9975's point but will stick with the current plan at least for now.

I would love to see this as a multi-season league (we have quite a few of this type in sim league baseball) but we'll see if this initial foray flies.

Thanks for joining. Interesting-so far the choices are 1 good, 2 mediocre and 1 bad team.

I'm anxious to get to 12 in for 2 reasons-we would be halfway home, and I could pick a team. My 1st choice is still on the board.
