I meant to post this after the sitemail, but this rule tweak doesn't really suit me.  Sorry DS, but I prefer something slightly more traditional...  standard/regressive/split eras...  that is more my speed.  I think the drafts and such for this type world will get too complicated for my tastes.

Hey dspahlinger, I thought of tryin a league similar to this but  I was undecided about draftin from one season or two consecutive seasons allowing a player to start in any season of their career and only progress from there on skipping forward past unwanted seasons so that minutes wouldn't be an issue like all the other Pro leagues. I was going to start it in 1980-81 or 1980-81/1981-82 but I didn't know which format would be better. I like the idea of your league but I don't like how you will be skipping over some really good seasons of a players career. My format would allow you to skip over bad or injured seasons but still play out all the significant seasons of a players career. I also agree with robusk that it could be very complicated figuring out which players careers would be better during the draft with your format. I really want to get into a progresssive league that is in it's 1st year but I don't want to play in a pro league where my team and even other teams are too short on mins cuz it is a total waste of time if your team can't compete. It is very difficult to fill an NBA simleague but if you can't fill this league and try my suggestion I will join cuz I don't have the time to run a pro league anyways. Maybe you throw it out there and see if it is somethin that would fill this league quickly. I kinda like the idea of startin in the seasons you chose also but are the minutes going to be there? Just tryin to contribute to gettin a 1st season pro league started so I hope you take this in a positive way.

One reason I was doing the double season is that it makes more players available each season. I don't think minutes would be an issue. I have run 2 such leagues in Sim League Baseball successfully.

I'm not unwilling to try your idea but I would really like to start earlier in the 1970's and I don't think there are enough players in a single season format. I solicit other opinions-I'm also willing to try starting in the 1980's.

BTW, while I have not yet run a Sim League Basketball league I have succesfully run over 50 seasons of Sim League Baseball so I am experienced in running leagues.

I think we should stick with the original plan and keep the start of th league as dsp conceived it. The Omega NFL league uses the same concept, other than being regressive, and it runs just fine.

I wasn't questioning your ability to run an NBA simleague. All I wanted to do is throw somethin out there for you to think about. This league sounds great and I hope you fill it. The reason NBA simleagues never get started is cuz most of the people on this forum want to play the same old boring leagues over and over again that have very little imagination, although there are some really cool people on this forum also who are willing to try somethin imaginative and different but it doesn't matter cuz those leagues never get filled anyways. They need to give the option of 16 or 20 team leagues but it doesn't look like that will ever happen. Most leagues don't even come close to filling so alot of people lose interest and just play sim baseball leagues which aint such a bad idea cuz it is way better anyways! Good luck gettin those last 11 owners to join your league but if you get 10 more I may reconsider joining.

Thanks snydpie-I'll keep trying for a while. I've thought about trying a league staring in say 1990 where there would probably be enough players but I'd really like to start earlier than that.
