I don't think either of those is the guy he was talking about. Imo the 4th best sg ever is still on the board
In my opinion the 4 best are long gone- Jordan, Kobe, Wade, & Glide!

I don't have any players you can cheat off of but there are some horrible shooters on other teams that will allow Dream & Ewing to sag and protect the basket.

Kidd has been a bad shooter most of his career.  He made up for it with d, rebounding and passing.    Vince was a baad pick by me!  I may release him and pick up a ww guy.

He was a great offensive player. I don't want you to think he is a bad pick cuz he is a great finisher and shooter. I just didn't want him over Maravic. He actually defended SF's better than SG's for some reason. He definately deserves to be in this draft Bro!

Kidd is a better shooter than given credit for, especially as his career progressed. I will take him as a 5th option on my team any day if u know what I mean.

Are we going 8 rounds?  this will take another week.
I think to even out things we should go 2 players next round and 1 the final round.  Just a thought.

Not going to a schedule was a bad move.  This is just for fun and at this point, we are prolly not all seeking the same guy.  I could care less about getting skipped at this point.  There is not $10 riding on it ya know?  Let's get this rolling before we croak of old age.

I agree with the schedule thing, otherwise I may just forget about this... Why are we doing 8 rounds? Why not 6? or 7? If we are going to have backups, why not have one for each position? 8 seems kind of an arbitrary number.

Here is reality.

(Here is a great distance separating the two.)

Here is snydpie.

It actually blows my mind how out of touch with reality he is.  I don't even need to give examples, but
"Kidd is a better shooter than given credit for, especially as his career progressed. I will take him as a 5th option on my team any day if u know what I mean."

So wait... are you taking a later career Kidd?  I thought this was supposed to encompass the player as a whole.  Weren't you the guy that said that, since you started the league?  You can't combine young Kidd's defense and athletic superiority with old Kidd's shooting.  Young Kidd couldn't shoot.  Period.  So now you have a bad shooter (and another shooter who had a terrible shot selection but a really cool nickname) that people can sag off of.  And your greatest defensive team (LMFAO) just got even worse.

And your constant criticizing people of their picks and teams is laughable since you don't have any ******* clue who picked who as you have repeatedly demonstrated.

This was a good idea but has been poorly implemented.  I think it is an accurate reflection of the person who started it.  There's no point in going 8 rounds.  Snydpie wins.  Congrats on your impressive team-building capabilities.

Wait wait wait... let me get this straight.

First, you missed the entire point of the Glen Rice comment.
Then, you show your complete ignorance of John Havlicek's defensive ability.

Sooooo... I'm not sure why I'm staying involved in this thing since the founder obviously thinks Worthy is a better defender than John Havlicek - LMFAO!

Olajuwon-Ewing-Worthy-Kidd... greatest defense in this league?  It's ridiculous that I even wasted my time responding to you.

Again, I have to say, you live in some fantasy world where Ewing is a bad mother ****** & James Worthy is a defensive stopper.  I mean... seriously... rofl
I didn't say Worthy or Baylor were better defensive players than Havlicek. I was saying Havlicek needed to stay at SF cuz you needed a SG who could defend the point so that Havlicek could guard the best offensive wings which is his specialty so you should've taken Baylor or Worthy instead cuz if you have Magic you need guys who can finish the fast break which Baylor & Worthy are perfect for! Then get your SG that would compliment Magic and Baylor or Worthy later in the draft. It's your team so do what you want. I just don't see Magic defending PG's since he couldn't do it in the NBA so I know he can't do it in this league. Then you defeated the purpose of having Havlicek! Who is Nique going to defend? Your offense is going to be great but defensively you will have to deal with a few mismatches for sure.
I don't have any of those players on my team, fyi.
That's my team, snydpie.

Wilkins Career DR: 108
Worthy Career DR: 108

Wilkins Career Playoffs DR: 112
Worthy Career Playoffs DR: 111

So... either Wilkins is an elite, all-time defender like James Worthy or your team has a problem as well. Which one is it?

This.

I would like to add that you have proven that you don't have any clue as to the history of the NBA and it is irritating to say the least to have to listen to a know-it-all try to tell others what they think when they are wrong (ever since the whole "Patrick Ewing was the 2nd best defensive center of the last 4 decades comment"... sheesh.. that was one of the 1st but there are multiple other examples of silliness in this thread).

Malone or LTB or dh or badja or anyone, feel free to adopt my team if you don't mind being berated by an idiot (or having to explain your picks to one). I am out of this.

By the way, last week when people were calling for a schedule, I sent our fearless leader a sitemail, offering advice on how to make the schedule and what to do... there was no response of any kind, not even here in the forums. In fact, he didn't even address the issue until imahobbit posted that he would like to hear from him.. many posts and hours later. This is the kind of "founder" we are working with here. A guy who ignores the fcking issue even after it's thrown in his face... should get a job working at customer service here at WIS, lol.

Lord, y'all.  A draft like this is supposed to generate some good smack talk.  If we all agreed about the relative ranking and capabilities of each player, this would be a waste of time.  The main reason I suggested some kind of tournament to ultimately pick a winning team was so that we could prolong the debate.  And that way you're making your case (about your team and your players) to all the GMs who will be voting, rather than trying to convince one person who has a lot invested in being right.  Let it be cool, I say.  It's all in fun.

Quit it shthead.

IT IS MARAVICH.  NOT MARAVIC LIKE YOU HAVE TYPED THREE TIMES NOW.

Four more to go and then the starting lineups are complete.  Really hoping a couple guys in particular continue to fall all the way to my bench.
8/19/2011 9:25 AM
I was kinda hoping Maravich would fall another round or two so I could consider using him as a combo guard off the bench to jazz up my second unit.

He definitely belongs in this league, talent-wise, although it requires some work to imagine what he'd be like as a star player on a contender.  Kind of sad that he became a circus act on a perennially mediocre or bad team.  Definitely one of the best ballhandlers and most exciting passers I've seen.

He had a reputation as a shooter and he definitely had ridiculous range and clutch instincts, so he should help loosen up the defense and open up the floor for whatever team he played on.  He didn't have the overall efficiency of guys like Miller and Allen, but was basically a product of his time in that respect.

Usually when I've participated in mock drafts of this sort (on other sites) we've gone 10 rounds, but it takes a long time.

If we're not doing that, then I do like the idea of 8 since it allows you to build a core rotation...three bench players, if you pick smartly, should be sufficient to back up the five starters.

I was envisioning that when the draft was complete we could each post rotations with minute allocations at each position, and game strategies (e.g., fast break or half-court, who's playing what role...).  That would inform the voting.
