"Great players who are great team players make their teammates better which is what Dream & Ewing would do for eachother just like Robinson & Duncan did! These 2 pairs are similar in talent but once again my guys are in their prime! Prime =better results! "

what? ewing was a great team player? since when? he struggled to pass out of double teams and barely got any assists at all even though he had the ball almost every possesion....why do you think he couldnt dominate the bulls?...it sure as sh*t wasnt bill cartwright....he couldnt handle the pressure jordan/pippen and the rest put on him
He didn't have any offensive players to pass the ball to. They had few shooters. PF's who had to played SF and they had no shooting range! Their best offfensive player other than Ewing was Starks? As Len Berman would say- Cumon Man! Ewing is playin with an offensive powerhouse now so he can just do his thing. Dream & Amare instead of Oakley, Worthy & Hill instead of Mason, Pistol & Ellis instead of Starks, and Kidd instead of Ward. Ewing's in heaven now!

And by the way dh no-one could dominate the Bulls. Even Dream had trouble against their double teams. Every team struggled against the Bulls. They were the greatest defensive team ever! You'll have to do better than that.
giving credit to the greatness of those bulls teams defense is always a good move in my book...well done

BUT...he still isnt a good passer just because you gave him better teammates...he is what he is...if he was a great teammate he would have made those guys into better players...hooked them up with better shots and such...those knicks teams had a real ugly offense and he played a big part in making it that way

Ewing missed a wide open gimme layup, end of the game, in the playoffs.   He really didn't have much help but damn he seemed to find a way to lose rather than win.  I even like the guy but he was limited.    How many points will he get as a second or third banana?

Oh and ORL beat CHI with MJ.  Retirement or not, he was still putting up 40 a night but they couldn't handle the big fella inside.
8/23/2011 11:22 PM
Am I right in assuming you have just said that Jason Kidd (pre-2008) was a better shooter than Charlie Ward or Hubert Davis (at any time of their careers)?  Than Derek Harper or Greg Anthony?  What about Allan Houston?  Seriously?  That guy had one of the sweetest jumpshots I've ever seen.  Of course, all he & Davis could do WAS shoot, but yeah.  Sorry, Ewing had floor spacers.  It's a shame they let Jon Starks on the floor as much as they did, however.

I loved Ewing... but... wow.

Mark Eaton. Sorry, the site maintenance delayed me.

Ok snydpie as a supposed Rocket fan you have some explaining to do.

I have no problem hailing the Bulls as the greatest defensive team (although the Bad Boy Pistons make a compelling argument as does the 04 Pistons), but what is this crap about the Bulls giving Olajuwon trouble.  Did you realize that the first three-peat Bulls were 1-5 against the Rockets including the game where Bill Cartwright's elbow broke Olajuwon's orbital bone?  The Bulls struggled with solid big men because they never had a center worth anything.

To throw Ewing under the bus a little more, he played with (other than the list given by ash), and not just considering shooters:
Mark Jackson
Charles Oakley
Anthony Mason
Gerald Wilkins (or his proper title...Wilkins the Lesser)
Larry Johnson
Kiki Vandeweghe
Latrell Sprewell
Mo Cheeks
Johnny Newman
Trent Tucker

I know these guys might have only a a season or two, and some were near the end of their careers, but he had plenty of guys around him that could play.

I think this speaks to Jordans greatness the centers he played with were probably the worst of any NBA Championship team.

uhhh, Jordan is great?  Really?

Hmm, Grant was a very nice player who did very well anywhere he went.  58% shooting, 14% orebs, all def team.  He was a competent big man.
Rodman put up Bill Russell rebounding numbers, just at a different position.
Perdue was a decent player w/limited minutes.  Cartright & Longley-yeah not much there.
Good thing all they had to defend was Mark Eaton (sorry Emp! he was a badass defender)

my earlier trivia question.. the only guy taken in the first 5 rounds with no all-star appearances was Derek Harper. Several other guys were taken as bench guys though.

Andre Miller
Mike Miller
Marcus Camby
Arvydas Sabonis
Derek Harper

Are the 5 members of the 0-0-0 club here. No all-stars, no rings and of course no mvps.

fewest allstar appearances.. empdenied with 33 (despite mjs 14)
most rings - dh - for putting sam jones on his bench
least rings - hobbit and steelers each have 4, but two of steelers are ABA rings

most mvps - still sappy

jay, snydpie, and xxevil drafted only 1 mvp season each
