snydpie I'd like to change my team to The Floridians and play in So. Beach and if a second team is available I'll take Vancouver Roughriders
and play in B.C. eh!  Van. was totally ripped off by the NBA.  Stern sucks eh!  The Great N.W. deserves better.
south beach? hmmm... already a team there my friend... mine. miami beach boys... we will do our sand training there on weekends with the cheerleaders (beach volley ball with the miami bleach blondes).

as far as tanking goes... that is easily remedied. being in a few progressive leagues, tanking is an issue that needs to be addressed. so, i recommend we form a "tanking committee." a panel of 3 judges that will discuss an owner's possible sabotage to his team to improve his draft status ranking.

will look at certain factors as: 1) inserting players at wrong positions to disguise their usage 2) not playing top players their proper mins (excluding fatigue concerns of course) 3) extreme team settings: a- clearing bench at the 20 min mark, b- 2 double teams, c - slipping oxycotton into the water bottles

these "certain factors" will not be automatic indications, just pieces of the puzzle that add to the discussion.

the committee will then make a recommendation to the commish. it is up to the commish to have the final ruling, especially after the "accused" owner has a chance to defend himself.

i think this approach will act as an added buffer against those pesky owners who are adept at tanking.  thoughts?

a three owner panel would be a good watchdog to curb that tanking feeling.  what kind of penalties are you talking about?  Scud as a goodwill jestur
I'll move my east franchise to another fun in the sun location Landover MD and be known as the Capitol Bullets.  Beware our So. Beach visits we'll be
a rowdy drunken freeforall.  Gimme back my Bullets.  No more Washington Gizzards!

actually, i think there are enough cheerleaders in the miami-dade metro area to have 2 basketball teams that could share south beach. no problem, paisano. i jumped the gun on that i think.

penalties? well, that's kind of easy, yes? removal from the lottery, i would think. draft 7th. but, the penalty would be up to the commish, depending upon the severity of the tanking.

I'm fine with the three owner panel idea.

I know I posted earlier without a commitment...  but I think I am down.  I am not a hundred percent clear on the draft though.  Can someone explain what we are drafting and how it works moving forward?

As I understand it, the initial draft includes the rookie seasons of any players from the large pool of 1967 and back.  This is to ensure we can fill a 24-team league.

Any undrafted player is still available going forward, but still needs to be drafted in his rookie season.  Eventually, the earlier players will be winnowed out naturally because they won't be needed to fill out the league.

I'd like a team, if one is still available...and since scud has evacuated the DC area, I'd like the Washington Crusaders, if possible

I think that means there's one last opening.  If so, I'd like it, if you'll have me.

So, if I draft rookie year of someone from 1867 and then we do the 1968 draft, do I own that guy?

The league is probably filled anyways but I am a little vague on the core rule.  If someone drafts 59 rookie Wilt, for instance, with the first pick, they get to keep Wilt for his entire 8-9 yr career? If so, seems like a strong edge for first picker.  I assume subsequent drafts are to replace only those players you dump from your current roster?  If so, many owners will be drafting different numbers of players each year. Please unconfuse me.  Thanks.

Sweet we are filled

From what I understand its 1-24, 24-1,24-1. Then snake from there?
