Some of the categories I was playing around with and would've liked to include...
--> Players (hitters and pitchers) with last name = Ruth
Babe only has 21 seasons, but Dick Ruthven would've been included and would've made this a legal category. Would've been fun to see when the pitching versions of Babe got taken.
--> Low IP stud starting pitchers (typically used as relievers in the sim world)
Pos = SP, IP/162 = 0 to 150, Whip = 0 to 0.95, IP/G = 4+
Everybody's favorite cookies, including Milacki, Blue, Carlos, Ramsey, Pedro, J.R, etc.
--> 300-K Pitchers with <400 IPs
This list includes a couple of Walter Johnsons, all the way down to some high-whip Nolan Ryans.
--> As far as single-season teams go, I was thinking along the lines of 1906 Chicago ballclubs (Cubs/White Sox)...
Three Finger, Ed Walsh, etc...
--> $4M Part-Time Hitters
PA/162 = 0 to 425, Min Salary = $4 million
Besides Ted Williams' .407 season, you have Pudge's .347 A+ arm, Matt Williams 23 HRs in 319 AB with B/A+ defense, McGwire's.746 Slug. Lajoie .376. This would
be a great catgeory to fill in those missing plate appearances.
--> RP, IP = 83 to 83, BB/9 = 1.5 to 3.0
I always found it amazing that Eric Gagne pitched exaclty 83 innings in 2002, 2003 and 2004. Plus I would like to see Gagne's 03 year represented.
