16 x 16, Version 19 - Draft Thread Topic

It's going to very interesting to see what kind of pitching staffs people are going to put together with all these high-priced crappy seasons.  For my 3-man starting staff, I have Cooper's best season and one of Hudson's better seasons to go with Mathewson's 411 IP 1908 season (total 990 IPs).  I also have a usable 69-IP Marquard (1.08 whip) season for one of my relievers.  I'll piece together the rest of the bullpen using my teammate options (I already have a few options in place).  I will have approximately $8-9 million of wasted salary with Uhle, Hough, Stanton, Tanana, Grant, which I think will be on the low end, in terms of wasted salary dollars on pitching.  Although I imagine to avoid wasting salary, some folks will simply slot a mediocre $6-7 season of these guys into the starting rotation.

I have a feeling I'm going to end up with 100 losses. Wasn't able to spend enough time analyzing the draft pool pre-draft and am really paying for it now. Probably going to end up with 20+M in wasted salary

I think we're all going to end up with $20M+ in wasted salary.  That's par for the course in this theme.  It's how you spend the other $90M that will make the difference.

There are still people out there that are going to have to eat $5-7 million each on crappy seasons of Cooper, Hudson, Uhle, etc.  Well, they won't eat it, necessarily - they may just slot those guys into the rotation.

I'm planning on $30M wasted on pitching along with the $12.95 I foolishly will spend on putting in a team that will lose 175 games.

The $110M salary cap doesn't help either.

This has to be the earliest ever in a 16x16 draft where a player had 11 seasons drafted before round 7.  Congrats calhoop on your player nomination.  And good luck to dcmatcheck who's 15th round pick will be a $9.3 million albatross (or an $11.8 million crappy rotation SP?).  The upside is that dcmatcheck should get to draft first in just about every round.

Schwarze let's not overlook that the 1923 George Uhle can bat clean up for your team .361/.391/.472 line.
