Wait, you guys are already at (or close to) the max salary?  Yikes.
10/4/2010 8:06 AM
Those numbers are including all my picks.  I think my scrubs will all be safe.
10/4/2010 10:59 AM
My last six picks will include five 200K scrubs and one medicore reliever.  I'm still a bit short in innings.  I have to think that most teams will only have scrubs left to pick up at this point.  I know I didn't want to risk needing a position player late, not knowing what choices would still be around.

True for the most part for me as well . . . but my highest paid player came in Round 18 --- 2000 Carlos Delgado, 1b.
10/4/2010 12:39 PM
Hey all, sorry about sliding away on the weekend there. I'm not a big weekend check-in guy and wasn't able to set up all my proxies. Rest assured I'm back and ready to fight for the best scrubs left on the board.

I am not going with just 200k bench players.  I have some guys in my lineup that won't be able to play everyday without fatigue issues - plus when there is an injury or a pinch hitting situation, I want to have someone halfway decent to put in.

Can someone enlighten me on INJURIES ?
Played 300+ Leagues over 5 years... never been in one that allowed injuries.

(1)  How do they happen?  Fatigue?  Random bad Luck?
(2)  How long will an injured player be out of action?

10/4/2010 1:57 PM
I'm pretty sure that 1) they are somewhat random, though the likelihood of injury goes up if the player is fatigued and 2) they are only for one game

I'm fairly new to WIS but according to the FAQ, with Injuries OFF the player is only injuried when Fatigue is close to zero.  I would think with Injuries ON, they could occur anytime irregardless of their present fatigue level.

However, in all types of leagues, its stated that there are no multi-game injuries of any kind, so if you experience an injury to a player, they will be allowed to play the next game if you want to put them in.

But if this isn't how it works, I'd like to know as well.

With the DH turned on, I doubt I will ever need to pinch hit.   The only time my scrubs will play, is as a defensive replacement, or mopup pitcher.

WE have enough salary to have guys who could play positions daily & do well available off the bench!  I still have some SPs and position players to pick up & I think I'll get most.  Only now & then have I had to make a change before putting in my selection (& sometimes the change is for the best!)....

I have a little under $3,000,000 left to pick up 1 middle inning reliever, 2 scrub relievers for mop up, and 2 scrub position players for defense or rest only.  In the 16th and 19th rounds I picked up my two most expensive position players Ken Caminiti and Bernie Williams.  I thought about waiting a little longer to pick up my other outfielder but Bernie was as the saying goes a bird in the hand was worth two in the bush that might not be there when I got there.

Won't some of your guys with around 600 PA need to rest during the season like Bonds and Helton or even Rickey who has 652 PA but will probably lead off and need 750 to play every game without fatigue?  You've been around awhile so maybe you know fatigue does not really matter?   Is that the case?

And I was thinking of late game situations where a pinch hitter might be used to get a lefty against a righty situation or vice versa.
