8 owners still holdin 100 million.

I think the biggest steal was the Cleveland OF for 22 million. I know Manny's defence is shaky, but he'll be usable as a DH some years, and I didn't think that kind of hitting came that cheap. Lofton doesn't hit that well in the 2000s, but still has speed and defence, so that helps as well. I had that OF valued at 42 million, but I was already locked in on a bid on Atlanta.

There will be some real bargains later on I think that those 8 owners with 100 million left will be able to sweep up.

I'm guessing the big issue for a lot of people w/ that Cleveland outfield was simply lack of depth - they're a full 500 or so at bats short this year and moving on, because they have so many partial season guys who end up elsewhere. Manny is a stud, and Lofton a great complement, but I imagine people were worried about literally not being able to fill that 3rd outfield spot even this season.

I'm relatively happy w/ the Angels outfield at 25m - obviously it's not so hot long-term, but both defensively and offensively it's so fantastic for the first season - all three starters have excellent range and they also kick in a combined OPS over .900 with 2000+ PA. Add in a great 4th outfielder in Palmeiro (.395 OBP) and I have the foundations of a championship lineup for the first season.

And they aren't too terrible going forward either - through 2003 I'll have a solid enough hitting/fielding outfield lineup. Erstad fizzles at that point, and Salmon becomes mostly a DH for his last couple seasons, but Anderson is a solid enough 2nd/3rd outfielder through 2009. All in all I don't think 25 mil was too bad for this group, but I am depending on having a healthy amount of success in the first season to make it worth it.

Meh, Nomar has nothing around him though... As far as total salary goes I had Boston rated 2nd to last for IF units... I am definitely surprised I was able to get the White Sox IF for $21 million... I had them rated as the #3 IF Unit and Konerko, Durham and Valentin form a pretty solid IF for years to come...

Another fun fact that I've discovered... My catcher, Bengie Molina, was traded in July from the Giants to the Rangers... Has anyone ever been traded in the middle of the season from one team that made the World Series to the other team?

You can just call us the Electric Company Pirates. We plan on simply spending as little as possible and pocekting the cash each season to spend on boats and cars and other fun things. So I amssume 8 straight losing seasons are ahead.

1/3 of the teams have been auctioned off with only 1/4 of the total cash being spent.

I'm not so sure that there will be nice bargains later in the alphabet.  Lotta people will be sitting on cash and throw it at whatever's there.

what makes you think everyone plans on spending all of their available funds, perhaps they stick in in their cupboard for a later rainy day.

After finishing negotiations for the use of Angels Stadium we have agreed to make our official team name the Illinois Avenue Thimbles of Anaheim.
