The Old Shoe: Monopoly Discussion Thread Topic

Question has been asked, not sure it's been fully answered.  It is a topic worth discussing.  In order:

1.  Whoever goes bankrupt first picks last in the supplemental.  True- in ct's inital set of rules.
2.  Whoever has the most cash remaining picks first.    True- again, in the rules.
3 and 4-  This is where the gray area is and I've thought about this.  It all depends on what the definition of "bankrupt" is.  I am going to stray from the dictionary definition of the word in order to be true to what I believe is in the spirit of the league.   For purposes of the supplemental draft:

A)  Any team that has filled all 5 units (even if their balance is 0 at that point) is not bankrupt.
B)  A team that cannot fill all 5 units using the money they have is bankrupt.

This could mean a team with a higher balance could actually pick lower.  But I believe the team that was able to fill all their spots should be rewarded for doing so, not penalized.

In other words, what deanod and crazyjoe said.  I just hadn't made it official yet.  Now it is.

i'm not really sure i'd let dropping a spot or 2 in the supp draft keep me from landing an a rod or jeff kent type.

But Jeff Suppan will be there!

We've had a lot of discussion about the interpretation and clarification of league rules throughout the many pages of this thread. Is there any way to get a composite league rules thread put together? Or the classified ad revised to include discussions in that thread as well as this one?

It doesn't necessarily have to be done immediately, but this would help clarify the post-bid draft and eliminate errant bids in the future. Thank you for all your hard work Matt. Could not have done it without you.

Not a bad idea, abf.  Would be nice to be able to see everything in one place I think.  I can't promise it will be immediately, but I anticipate being able to do so before the supplemental draft.  I'm figuring the auctions will be running into next week.

On a separate note, I have fined umdterp397 4M for deleting a bid and making an illegal bid and toddleduc 2M for deleting a bid.  These fines have been reflected in their balances and are shown in the (No) Free Parking thread.

may i ask why you are imposing different fines for the same infraction?
11/10/2010 9:03 PM
I changed the above post to reflect the difference.

for the record, I don't recall purposefully deleting a bid...
I think I may have coppied a bid last night from someone else's post & then posted it without raising, then maybe reposted ? And I deleted a comment in the Bid thread that was just frustration this morning... but I don't mind the fine... good luck everyone...
