Darn it, I have a question before I draft....is there an IR or do we just skip ahead to their next available season?

There is an IR-After the Initial Twist Players proceed as in a Progressive-See Classified Page 3 where we signed up.

My apologies, the IR rule was pretty vague at best. There is an IR for any non-WIS seasons. There is no limit to the number you can place on IR. You'll draft any player that isn't in the league from the season your player has to be put on IR. Replacement player must be released when original player comes back from IR.

Well, let's bring this league a little closer to the present.  I'm gonna take Greg Maddux - 1986.  I hear he's pretty good.

Pedro Martinez -1993

Alex Rodriguez SS 1994 Couldn't pass up this guy who's a SS but hits like an All Star OFer.

One must assume you mean the one who made his debut with the Padres that year?

Also, the rookie class of 1986 alone might be enough to make up for the dearth of talent in the early 1900's years...

About 1885, glad you brought it up. I thought about it, and it strikes me as unfair to have a year where the entire pool of players, not just rookies, can be drafted. One solution, thanks to the unique features of this league, would be to place Tim Keefe in his rookie year. That's right, quite possibly the first ever WiS 1880 draft!

I haven't looked at the pool of talent, but I believe this can work. We can twist all the 1880 guys only to the year 1885 or later, but no reason to drop the rookie rule just becuase we don't have the earlier seasons of these players in the database. To aid research, it'd be nice is someone posted the full 1880 eligable list. If need be, we can use the same ruling from 1900 and expand the 1880 list to also include a second year. I'm actually rather excited by the prospect of going back this far.

By the way, interesting pick calhoop. I too was thinking of going that route, might grab and old-time hurler for myself.

I was thinking of going the 1885 Route as well, but didn't because I knew once I did, that I'd be opening the Flood Gates, and my 85 Pick would have been kind of negated by other 85 Picks.  The way things have panned out, even though I'll have a 20 something pick of the 85 players, I'll still get a very useful pick.  And with that being said I don't think it would be a good idea to switch things around because my 1st Pick was taken, with an understanding that I'd have a shot at a cetain player from 85.
