Here is what we have so far, in terms of possible divisions...

Cheno5 - Baltimore Orioles
alleyviper - Boston Red Sox
sgsmith - New York Yankees
Disco Dogs - Toronto Blue Jays

mllama54 - Minnesota Twins*

Robin4 - Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim
rbow923 - Oakland Athletics
sinfonian11 - Texas Rangers*

specsman - Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals*
jschwarze - Philadelphia Phillies

stewart281 - Cincinnati Reds
jose can u c - Houston Astros

spoonfed - Arizona Diamondbacks*
tfefferson - Colorado Rockies
ff09 - Los Angeles Dodgers*
tridentric - San Francisco Giants

newarkwilder
shaybee
marlowe
moneybonn

Braves & Marlins to the NL East.  Mariners to the AL West.  We'll see who newark chooses.  That could blow everything up, or fit into the AL Central perfectly.

sorry guys, been on vacation and didn't realize we were starting so soon; my fault. I'll try the Mets I suppose...

Given that selection, we'd advocate for moving the Braves to the NL West -- where they were from 1969 to 1993 -- and shift the DBacks (newest franchise, along with the Rays) to the AL Central.  Granted Texas is closer to the Central than Arizona, but Texas has always been in the West since they moved from DC in 1972.

As long as the AL Central has to host some weird team, why not just bump the Braves there?

Or, if we don't mind being more ahistorical, how about Braves to the NL (South) Central and Pirates to AL (North) Central?

I thought I'd add my two cents.  I understand we should move one of the expansion teams into the AL... but why made 2-3 changes?  As much as I'd like to move Atlanta out of my division, why not just put Florida into the AL Central.  One simple change.

Cheno5 - Baltimore Orioles
alleyviper - Boston Red Sox
sgsmith - New York Yankees
Disco Dogs - Toronto Blue Jays

marlowe - Florida Marlins
thaneoffife - Cleveland Indians
coach - Detroit Tigers*
mllama54 - Minnesota Twins*

rbow923 - Oakland Athletics
moneybonn - Seattle Mariners

I agree with schwarze on this one.  The Marlins have traditionally been the nomads of this league, playing everywhere from the NL East to the AL West.  I'll make just the one change and send the Fish to the AL Central.

I have 17 sets of keepers.  Get them in so we can start drafting on Friday.  Thanks!
7/20/2011 7:09 PM
Just need Baltimore's keepers and we'll be ready to go. Will talk to Cheno this morning.
7/21/2011 8:58 AM
Cheno should have his keepers in shortly.  Then I will post all of them.  Looking at an official start time tomorrow at noon EDT.
7/21/2011 10:42 AM
Have Cheno's keepers.  Will get all of them posted soon.

Keepers are posted.  spoonfed may draft at any time.  Official schedule will start at noon EDT tomorrow, which gives everyone 24 hours to examine the keepers.

Oh well.  I still like my AL North/NL South suggestion, which also makes more east/west sense than what we'll actually have.  The answer to schwarze's "why make 2-3 changes?" is: I like the North/South and it makes more east/west sense too.

Also: "2-3 changes" to what?  To somebody else's suggestion?  Or to MLB alignment?

Of course, I'm still a noob, and didn't know the Marlins' nomadic history.

Interesting: Royals and Brewers each left out for the first time.

Also: Wow, there have been two legs without Yankees?
7/21/2011 12:36 PM
I think trying to stick to real life alignment seems kind of arbitrary but that's just me.  I could take it or leave it.
7/21/2011 12:36 PM
Yeah, it's not a big deal either way, of course.  I guess part of my point is that lots of people around here are smarter than those who run MLB, and we seem to do a lot of things more intelligently than they do.  So why limit ourselves to the decisions they've made in this one area?
