If only these people knew that the guy who pulled his tractor-trailer off to the side of the highway is waiting to make his fantasy draft pick. Lol. Im gonna take a chance and draft a few minutes early so I can get moving

tyvegas-This is not a fantasy draft, this is the real deal.  The Players you select, you will own for as long as you want to.  So by all means pull over when you have to so that you can take care of your Franchise.

I'm starting to worry about the fact that players are being chosen that I didn't even have on my longlist, good players too. This might be a problem for me in the mid to late rounds. I might have to hire some of outbackers staff away from him.... or take a sick day.
I can't allow any of my Scouts to  work for you because they would disclose information that is exclusive to me and therefore would be sued.  This is all spelled out in the Contract that I have with all my Scouts.  I would recommend, you using whatever resources you have and doing the best you can.

Wow, Steve Garvey did not waste any time inquiring about the marital status of his two new teammates. When reached for comment, GM Ty Vegas tried to diffuse the situation. "The only thing Messersmith cares about is becomim
ng the first WIS free agent, and Sislers' wife is over 100 so she needn't worry about the advances of Mr. Garvey".

Garvey, however, was quick to disagree.

In other team news, George Sisler is apparently upset over the selection of another, better fielding, firstbaseman. "I don't know what this high falootin' DH thing is but I know that I won't do it!"

Vegas responded by stating that Garvey is still a few years away, at best, so for the time being Sisler is out firstbaseman. Could there be some post-draft wheeling and dealing? "Everyone knows I won't be shy in the trade market. Our first 5 or 6 picks won:t be based on any strategy, purely the best available player. Any future deals will have to work within the strategy that we commit to later in the draft. I won't mortgage our future to win now, but we will look to be competetive every year.

Greener88--I think it just goes to show that a) your analysis of players is similar to other managers, and b) this will be a competitive league.   Of course there are two primary strats as some have been drafting a "win now" roster and others are "future" oriented.
i agree Mike.Thats why i am beginning to think that new progressive leagues ask owners to pay for 3 seasons so we don't have guys playing 21 and out and screwing up the rest of the league.I do realize that in these difficult economic times that is a tough sell
Many recreational activities ( both trivial and serious; like this league of ours) do just fine in tough economic times.  One of the best examples is the movie industry during the Great Depression.  So I am disappointed that progressive leagues have taken such a hit during this recession - and they have.  I understand the tough choices people are facing these days.  Its just too bad for me/us since I really like long-term progressives and hate to wait for new owners to be found between seasons.

I was hoping Garvey would drop a few rounds since there is a wait on him.  Good investment, though.

I thought the same of Pie Traynor. I have quite a wait between picks so I knew he'd be gone before my next chance.

As for the future of the league, I have my first six seasons paid for already, it helps to draft each player in each season so I can see how my team is shaping up. It looks like the first season will be wrapping up around Christmas and I think a 6 pack would make a great gift to my brother. So if anyone drops out there's an instant replacement waiting.

The mood in the Draft Complex has changed.  Most of the Players are gone as they have been Drafted.  The sounds of Spring Birds has replaced the talking and yelling of many Ball Players in a confined area.  The Players who remain are like tires with worn treads, no longer serving a purpose.  The needs of my Team have changed and the Players Complex has not kept up with the changing times.  Mr Outbacker has a long breathed feeling about seeing his Team becoming sterotyped as the daily ritual of who was the last Player Drafted takes place.  Therefore without further ado Mr Outbacker calls a Meeting with the Scouts at 3PM

Mr Outbackers Meeting with the Scouts-

1st of all I'll get right to the point!  We have the wrong Players at the Draft Complex.  They no longer fit our needs,  Send them home and bring in other Players for me to look at.  Who the hell decided to Draft Jesse Barnes instead of HOFers Jesse Haines and Waite Hoyt???(Mr Outbacker didn't get an ans because the decision was made by a Committee)-Mr Outbacker abruptly leaves and walks out.

Seduced by the defense of 3B Graig Nettles and his left-handed bat.  Welcome to the team, Puff.

Well, I can't access the last page of the draft forum.  Its been that way for about 25 minutes.  I've cleared cookies, emptied cache, performed disk cleanup, defragged the hard drive, disconnected and reconnected, done a rain dance, took a crap, said about 1,000 curse words, blamed everyone I know, threatened to blow up AT&T, and even tried Firefox.

If I can't access it before 6:30, I'll post my pick in here and maybe one of you excellent people could post it as a proxy in the draft thread.   Thanks!
