It looks like they're going for the 2011 Yankee approach.  "Even if we give up 9 runs, we're gonna score 10!"

And 2 of those 3, Willie Davis and Frank Howard are both going to bheid's Team to join another Dodger Muary Wills.  Also Billy Williams Has been added to the Team.  A sweet Lineup for 1963 when the Dodgers won it all.  But another thing that strikes me, is that the Team's 1st 4 Picks have not included a Pitcher.
Well, it's not like I didn't want to draft a pitcher. Probably a miscalculation on my part thinking one of the pitchers I wanted would slide to my next pick. Got close with Chris Short but some smartie went and took him right before my pick. Seems everyone else is taking all my players...... d*mn it!

I've had to readjust my draft plan so many times.  My guys always seem to fall around picks #12-#14 in the round.

That has worked pretty well for me on WIS, except in the playoffs.

I think, one of the things that makes this frustrating and challenging is the fact  that we're Playing in 1961, but our mind set, is for the 1960's.  1961 has more in common with Baseball in the 1950's, when hitters dominated, than with the Pitcher dominated 1960's.  We do have Pitchers who are on the verge of greatness, but have not gotten their yet in 61.  As a result Owners, have been selecting Position Players at a faster rate, which in turn has resulted in a drain on the  remaining Pool of Position Players and Owner frustration.

it's definitely a threshold year in baseball history in many ways

In just 2 Years a dramatic change!  And Baseball will be forever changed.  The 61 Pitchers need a chance to grow up and Scouts better stay active because there's going to be an influx of new outstanding Pitchers entering our league in the coming years.  So don't worry about those 61 Pitchers.  Who's ever left is a has been  Pork Chop.  Build your Teams with Position Players and make it intresting for your fans.  The Pitchers are on their way!

Even though I have no idea who I'll want to draft when we eventually get around to my next pick, it is disappointing to see the draft stall for so long on the weekend.  I'll probably be scrambling to figure out who is available after lots of picks during a busy weekday.  Seems like the weekend is when the draft should really fly, but everyone's schedule is different I guess.

I'm with you dannyjoe.  My weekday's are usually pretty hectic, the weekend is when I really have the time to get stuff done, I think it'd be nice to keep the clock rolling on the weekend, it's no different than people having to work on the weekdays, I use proxies to make my picks, other people can do the same.

of the 6 guys I had targeted for my round 5 and 6 picks, all 6 are still available.   Granted there's still about, 20 or so picks between now and my next pick, but so far it looks like my guys go through.

With a Long Week End Off the Clock their was much anticipation, to Mondays 4th Round Picks.  For myself; I had thus far selected:
1 Bob Gibson
2 Norm Cash
3 Ken Boyer

I very much, wanted a Ptcher, with 200 + ings to be the Team's #1 Pitcher in 1961.  I had settled on Bob Purkey to fill that role but he was selected before me by jeffnoles.  This put my Draft People in turmoil.  I was in Meetings all day.  I considered some good Position Players, but I didn't want to go that way, when I already had Cash and Boyer.  A few of my Draft people made a case, that the best way out of this hole at this point was to sacrifice 1961 for the future, and that in a way that was the way the organization was already headed by the selection of Bob Gibson.  They went on to say that at this point in the Draft it would be an excellent time to select Turk Farrell P.  The Group explained to me that earlier in the day Ken Johnson, very similar to Farrell, was selected.  They said that both Farrell and Johnson, weren't much in 61, but had good years beginning in 62.  I was convinced and decided to bring Turk Farrell P aboard.

Or maybe it was a reverse forum jinx daveymac :)

Turk is a real Party person.  Had us out till 4AM.  Was told by some of his friends that Turk can really be the life of the Party when things are going well but watch out for his temper after he loses a game.  We all came directly back to the Draft Center to make our Round 5 Pick.  We had already selected;
1-Bob Gibson
2-Norm Cash
3-Ken Boyer
4-Turk Farrell
But this turned out to be an easy Pick.  We needed a #1 Stud Pitcher so that we could give Gibson and Farrell a chance to mature.  The decision had already been made when I selected Turk Farrell.  The only question was would this guy be available?  And who was this guy?  The answer to the 1st question is Yes and the answer to the second question is Frank Lary.
