Yes, it starts Thursday. I just remembered this morning that I forgot to add the dates that correspond to each round. I'll also send a second sitemail the night before.

There are some drafts where I'd like to be at the end of round 1 and get an early round 2 pick.......this isn't one of them....

This would be a good time to say that I will accept trading picks during the draft. I also encourage trading during the season as it would help make things more competitive.

Snake style drafts ARE competitive . . . at least in my opinion. . . . .
I agree a little with AKlopp but it usually works out well for a end round pick 'cause you get the "cream of the crop" pick in the second round . . . .
If you pick 1 then you wait out for picks number 48 and 49....
Overall, I think this will be an interesting draft with the normal WIS crapshoot for who excels in the league.....

I have analyzed all positions and pitchers and am a bit worried about there being enough players to fill rosters-hope I'm wrong, but I wonder if this would not have been better as a 16 or 20 team league...and I'm sure no one is feeling sorry for me but I have a real dilemma with the first pick-do I take one of my favorite players of all time,MAntle, with great offensive and  defense,or do I take one of my most hated players of all time,Bonds, with transcendant offense?

I know it's not going to always be pretty and there will be likely be some fatigue issues for owners, but I'm certain it will work out. Also, remember that everyone gets 6/2 below average AAA which should patch some holes.

Oh, I wasn't complaining about the style of the draft--just making a comment that it feels a bit top-heavy. It will be a really interesting league. There will be some HUGE offensive numbers from the aforementioned outfielders...and, Rattlers, if the burden of the first pick is too much, we can always switch draft positions in rounds 1 and 2!

There is certainly a limited number of studs to build around. There are a few positions that are very thin, but it will be that way for nearly everyone. I like that you will have to think if you'd prefer a slightly better player at a rich position or maybe settle for a lesser season but at a thin position where talent drops off much faster.
The wait from the #5 spot until my second round pick will be painful, but at least I know what I can expect to get with my first pick. The spots I don't envy at all are the middle picks, like 10-13. There you have to just hope one of the true cream players falls to you and then you still have a pretty long wait until your second pick rolls back around.

Guess what you're saying that with the 15th pick, I'm up the creek????

Once we hit midnight ET, Rattlers can make his pick and we can officially start the draft. I also wanted to let everyone know that I will be available to take proxies most of tomorrow and Friday. The only exceptions are the late morning/early afternoon on Thursday (think approximately 10:30-2:30 ET) and any time before 11:00 AM ET on Friday.

flyingdude, just to clarify: Once the draft starts, we can make our pick anytime as long as the owner drafting before us has drafted. However, even if 15 people submit their picks by noon tomorrow, I still have my 5:30-6:00 time slot if needed. Correct?

Exactly.

After much internal debate within the Rattlers front office, the owner has decided to go with his heart rather than his head and select one of his favorite players of all time over one of his most hated players of all time:
  OF Mickey Mantle

I already know for team #1 I want the pitching version of Scott Stratton. I was hoping you would take Bonds instead, Rattlers, so I need to think things over about what I want to do for my other team. I hope whomever is next doesn't mind waiting until the morning while I mull this over.
