The old should've squeezed but didn't came back to haunt me!! Sutton gets both my losses, 72 Dodgers lose 4 - 3 to the 2007 Padres
7/27/2010 2:18 PM
In a thriller that saw Milton Bradley hitting an RBI single and a solo HR, Heath Bell getting out of a 6th-inning, bases loaded jam unscathed, and Justin Germano once again bailing out Trevor Hoffman, with an assist from Khalil Greene (RBI single) who nailed Bill Russell at the plate to prevent the tying run from scoring in the bottom 9th, the 2007 Padres hold on for the second straight game, 4-3, defeating the 1972 Dodgers.

Padres:

**Maddux (W, 1-0) 5.0
Bell 1.0
Tomko 1.0
Hampson 1.0
Hoffman 0.2
Germano (Sv, 2)

Maddux out for 2 games. Peavy out for 1 more. All others are available. Next scheduled starter is Chris Young.

I will get some things ready for the next one in a few days. We can at least start the sign ups and go from there. We wont play games until this one completes though as it would get to confusing. A few rule changes I am considering and would want feed back on.

+ Changing the Rounds to days and the pitching rest to days as well. That way if you take the Diamondbacks for instance in this tourny they would gain Schilling back a game sooner.

+Also would consider making the championship game and the if needed game on the same day so as to create more of an advantage for the team in the winners bracket.

+Finally I would consider running a different format than double elim, maybe a pool play or something to that effect.

Oh and if you have any sugjestions for the range of teams for us to choose let me know that too.

Knee, I would suggest two tourneys, concurrent or consecutive, however you want it. One for AL and one for NL. Every franchise would be represented and the teams would have to have been either in last place or have finished with a typically last-place record. I would put the high range at .420, which would be about a 68-94 record, or if the team finished last, the record wouldn't matter. (No pun intended on "high" and "420," by the way.) Whatever years you want to make it wouldn't matter to me, but I would suggest 1969 to present, which is the divisional era. Brewers can be represented in both leagues (1969-1997 in AL, including the 1969 Pilots, and 1998-2009 in the NL), and one franchise can be represented twice in the AL (must be different years) to make it 16 teams there.

Even better, the winners of the two tourneys can meet in a best-of-seven Losers' World Series.
