Looks like team 3 would have won this...too bad it didn't matter

A one game lead with 2 to go is not a lock. Especially since you would have to count soxyanks vs Taint as a loss for you guys.

Feel free to play them out!

toddleduc: As one of the most dedicated researchers in WIS, do you think there was enough thought put into the choice? Lots of D/D defenders on the field, and some pretty strong team options went unused.

Josh-  I own not contributing much at all in Survivor thus far as far as research... good, bad, or otherwise.  I've been so burnt out & dreading looking guys up & contributing any research this Survivor thusfar after running 3 Drafts in July and all the voluminous work that was involved with every one of them.  By the Ultimate, I was spending 2-3 hours a day it seemed just updating boards & lists and & Rosters.  So when Survivor rolled around- I've been a non-participant contributor.  And aparently my ghost writer was also on vacation.  If I make it through the cut, I'm ready to do more.  We all can do more.  Joint Chiefs of Staff need to get together & all put in some input and not leave it up to one smart guy to potentially be sentimentally swayed into a fire on the Big Train without a firehouse.  :-))  Just don't call me Albert Hainsworth or Manny Ramirez and we'll be ok  :-))

staindman: Was there an opportunity missed against acketyack to use the bonus from the previous challenge and potentially build a bigger lead in the late innings?

There was a missed opportunity in a way. My problem was taking out the Train and not realizing most of my pitchers were illegal. It was a long week and I didn't do much research on who is and isn't legal.  I really liked the choice Fish made it was just tough trying to recover from a hole.

If i survive this vote, i will still have thatpower though.

to be fair to fishnasty, I think I would have went with WJ as well with the third pick.  Heck those games WJ had agaisnt the Braves were pretty close.  I did think that Maddux was the clear number 1 pick as well, but the way team 2 played all close games against the Braves and the way RJ's teams have for the most part had easy wins, I think it is clear that Randy Johnson was the best pick for this challenge.

tropicana: Was it your choice to go to Exile Island? And how was the idol hunting while there?

Fortunately, or unfortunately, no, it wasn't.  This was a random.org deal, and I was the winner? Loser?  I don't know.  It isn't like the real survivor where going there sucks, so, there's that. But I did watch a few games in this challenge, and let me tell you, it sucks watching your boys go down without the ability to help.  Watching staind lock up in the damned substitution screen in a one run game with a fatigued WJ on the mound was like a pit forming in my stomach.  I'd like to think that I could have helped, but we were just outmatched this time around.

As for the clue...dude.  I am so effing confused by this...it's like you didn't write it in English.  I'm half-tempted to post it here to show everyone, because, seriously, I think words are missing from the two sentences.  And I am completely baffled.  Although, my bonus from last round turned out to be VERY....VERY....VERRRRRRRRRRRRRY useful.  For many, many different reasons. And I mean that to be as cryptic as it looks like. And if you have an idol, I know it.  And if you've been SAYING you have an idol...I know you don't.  So this was fun ;-)

Oh.  And if it wasn't obvious...idol hunting sucked.  A solid 60 minutes on it last night  and another 30 tonight, and I'm no closer to even forming a guess -- and you have my permission josh, you can tell everyone I haven't guessed yet...

Glad to hear the report tropicana. I thought I might have made it too easy. Remember that each week you can ask me one yes-or-no question and guess.

A few (insert joke here) words about idols ...

There are two types of idols in play. Some are part of the game play and can be found by anyone. These idols can be found using clues sent to players based on something in the selection of teams, game play, etc. Anyone in the game may take a guess at these idols, so if you have clues to them, be careful about sharing. Players who have received clues from me may ask one yes-or-no question each week (or once per challenge if we move along more quickly). If you haven't got a clue (from me, heh heh) you can still make a wild guess, especially if you've overheard whispers about the clue. Of course, such rumors could be false.

The other type of idol is found on Exile Island, and can only be found by someone who has been to the island. Anyone going to the island will have the option of getting a clue to an idol that has already been searched for or a new one.

Regardless of which type of idol is the subject, several things will be true:
- If you make a correct guess and the idol has already been found, I will tell you it has been found but will not tell you by whom.
- All idols will be directly connected to baseball, but can be almost anything linked to the game. Examples might include Bud's All-Star Game tie, Disco Demolition Night, most any single-season or career record, Joe DiMaggio, the Astrodome, Ellsbury stealing home against the Yankees, etc.
- As tropicana noted, the clues can be cryptic. That is very much intentional, and the goal is to make them hard to find with one clue, but easier with a good yes-or-no question or two, or with more than one clue. The clues are worded carefully, and as a longtime editor, any unusual wording or punctuation in the clue is there for a reason. As examples, capitalization where it should not normally occur signifies something extra, and something that would normally be singluar is written as plural, it's no accident.

If anything is unclear, please ask. Happy hunting tropicana!

CHALLENGE #6

From power pitching to power hitting, this time each tribe will choose one of the top 10 career home-run hitters. As in the previous challenge, each tribe will use two teams featuring their slugger in four-game series against each of the other tribes. Members of the winning tribe will each receive an individual bonus, and the two losing tribes will combine in voting to send one player home. One player from the two losing tribes combined who has the best record (first tiebreaker is home runs by the slugger, second is fewest runs allowed) will receive individual immunity. One player in the challenge will receive a clue to the fourth Immunity Idol, based on something in game play.

As loser of Challenge 5, Team 2 will pick its slugger last. Players are exclusive, with the first to post among the other two tribes getting rights to their choice. There are no captains for this challenge; anyone on each tribe may post a selection and the first one posted counts. Teams used in the challenge must have a WIS-eligible season of your hitter.

Anything goes for pitchers; use them however you want. Each tribe may use any starting pitcher for as many starts as it wants, and anyone may pitch in relief. For the tribal contest, first tiebreaker is runs allowed, second is homers by the chosen slugger.
