Glad to hear the report tropicana. I thought I might have made it too easy. Remember that each week you can ask me one yes-or-no question and guess.
A few (insert joke here) words about idols ...
There are two types of idols in play. Some are part of the game play and can be found by anyone. These idols can be found using clues sent to players based on something in the selection of teams, game play, etc. Anyone in the game may take a guess at these idols, so if you have clues to them, be careful about sharing. Players who have received clues from me may ask one yes-or-no question each week (or once per challenge if we move along more quickly). If you haven't got a clue (from me, heh heh) you can still make a wild guess, especially if you've overheard whispers about the clue. Of course, such rumors could be false.
The other type of idol is found on Exile Island, and can only be found by someone who has been to the island. Anyone going to the island will have the option of getting a clue to an idol that has already been searched for or a new one.
Regardless of which type of idol is the subject, several things will be true:
- If you make a correct guess and the idol has already been found, I will tell you it has been found but will not tell you by whom.
- All idols will be directly connected to baseball, but can be almost anything linked to the game. Examples might include Bud's All-Star Game tie, Disco Demolition Night, most any single-season or career record, Joe DiMaggio, the Astrodome, Ellsbury stealing home against the Yankees, etc.
- As tropicana noted, the clues can be cryptic. That is very much intentional, and the goal is to make them hard to find with one clue, but easier with a good yes-or-no question or two, or with more than one clue. The clues are worded carefully, and as a longtime editor, any unusual wording or punctuation in the clue is there for a reason. As examples, capitalization where it should not normally occur signifies something extra, and something that would normally be singluar is written as plural, it's no accident.
If anything is unclear, please ask. Happy hunting tropicana!
