Suicide Squeeze Bunt Topic

As long as we can't play live let's talk about one of the most annoying things playing live-the suicide squeeze play.

It is the most unrealistic thing in live. In real life teams rarely use the play and it is not a bad hitter (like a pitcher), but a skilled bat handler that can make the play a success. Most pitchers are not good enough bunters to make the play consistently .

It would be best not to use the play at all but I know some will want to take advantage of a flaw in the game.

i almost never use it, only when i have a fast runner on 3rd.

The most unrealistic is the 6-4-3 with a runner on 3rd and no outs and he doesnt score.

i agree it is annoying. and I will only do it if it is done to me (im old skool when it comes to that). I use to do it with a man on 1st and 3rd with less than 2 outs with a pitcher only to stay out of a DP but found runner never held and turned out to be same issue. I did have an issue with an owner which I never ******* about till now. I was playing him in a pitching duel that want into extras and was tied i  believe it was 1-1 in 13th...it was a dh league and rick cerone was due up with runner on 2nd and 3rd 1 out.....he brought in larry milbourne to pinch hit for cerone and bunted with him

My rule is I will still use it with a pitcher (unless that pitcher is Caruthers, Micah Owings, CC, ect) and Ed Brinkman on my yankmee team in trumps stienbrenner league.  And as knee pointed out there are more bugs than the SS...Alot of them involving runners NOT scoring when they should.

I think that it is the most bogus, (the guys not scoring) that said if I could pick one thing to be changed I am not sure what I would pick.

I absolutely loathe the strategy on WIS. It really bothers me when people use it and I will not use it under any circumstance.

I don't understand the people saying that they only use it when the pitcher is up.  That's when it is the MOST aggravating.  It's a cheap bogus run.  That strategy is right up there with the "wait to see if the sb is successful before I pinch hit" nonsense.  Also....why the #%#@ does the squeeze bunt strategy EVER work with the bases loaded?  Stupid, stupid, stupid, and I'm glad someone brought it up.

should start a thread with guys that use it consistanly so when we play them we know we can do it to them also. kinda like a heads up we know its coming and lets beat them to the punch. If you wanna do it to one of my teams its gonna happen to yours sorta thing

i bet i've done it 20 times in 6 years on here.

start a(nother) petition to have the WIS gods figure it out....or start a "forum agreement signup" not to use it.

I'll sign it!!

It's like the old "wrap around goal/behind the net goal" in Sega NHL 94......if it's available, people will use it.

Just weighing in....The SQUEEZE  is by far the most BullSH&T move on WIS.......I always thought that we all played this because of the realism. The idea that we can guide a club through 162 games and use our managing skills along with our GM abilities to create the best team. The idea that you are going to have a number 4 hitter/ or a  guy hitting .320 try to suicide squeeze in completely unrealistic. .......The suicide squeeze might be used 15 time TOTAL in an entire MLB season..

I also love the excuses that some of these owners give to doing it. Total crap.AS far as I am concerned the owners who do the indefensible squeeze move would be better suited for an alternate arcade style game...So I am with you all...HATE it

I agree with the fact that the suicide squeeze is far too successful, (at least from my memory) but if I got runners on 1st and 3rd, 1 out, and my pitchers up, you're damn right I'm bunting.  Obviously in real life it would be to move the runner to 2nd, but it's also incredibly unrealistic to swing away in a situation like that, unless it's a decent hitting pitcher.

I think a lot of you may just have a hard time distinguishing between the squeeze and the suicide squeeze.  If I have my pitcher up with less than 2 outs and a runner on 3rd I'm going to push that bunt button 75 or 80 percent of the time.  If anything I think that might be lower than what a real MLB manager would do.  I NEVER toggle hit-and-run with the P up, though.  I used to do that occasionally and, frankly, it burned me too much - I feel like I lost about 40% of those baserunners at home on tags or SB attempts following a K.  Not worth it.  I have no problem with squeezing in runs.  If your real issue is only with suicide squeezing, I can see that.  But there's very little in the box score to distinguish them much of the time and unless your opponent volunteers that he had the H&R on you can only speculate...

way lower...when was the last time you saw a suicide squeeze in RL with a pitcher? and done successfully? Happens maybe 10 times a year in the entire season of all games played. and success rate is not as good as WIS by a long shot. Maybe back in the day in earlier decades it was used at a higher rate with some success but I cant see how it can be almost 100% success rate here.

I don't think the suicide squeeze success rate is higher than 60 or 65% in the game...  Which I actually think is about right.  Which isn't to say the RL success rate wouldn't be lower if it happened more often.  As I pointed out, though, it's often hard to tell if you were hit with the suicide squeeze or the safety squeeze, and I think the safety squeeze is both realistic and strategically appropriate.
